base Sport VS Nismo?

The nismo has 350hp and 6 more torque than the base (base has 332 or so HP), but same engine... what is different between the two? I'm pretty sure it has the same intake as well...

Exhaust & Tune - performance
Different suspension
Different wheels & tires

The Nismo 370z is a package deal, it comes with a different base tune than the normal 370z. That tune was designed by Nismo of Japan to mirror the parts they equip the car with.

Nismo is finally starting to step to the plate in America the way they do in Japan, by building a complete car instead of just bolting parts on. I got a chance to talk to the guys at Nissan about it and they are really pushing for that to happen from now on. If you're going to build a bad *** hot rod out of a 370z I would start with the normal 370z. If you're looking for a solid OEM track/daily car that is well balanced and competent then the Nismo 370z is a real charmer.

Dadadummmm dadadadummmmm.
Straightline
edit: they don't mention it, but their touring model is a sport as well.

You can't forget the fact that the Nismo has a MUCH better looking body; although some people won't like the spoiler or the rear brake vents. Also, the wheels! They're more open, less Lexus-like, and wider. 10.5" rear wheels!? omg!

Base/Touring
332 hp @ 7,000 rpm
270 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm
Power-assisted brakes –
12.6" x 1.10" vented front discs
12.6" x 0.63" vented rear discs

Sport
SynchroRev Match (manual transmission)
Viscous limited-slip differential (VLSD)
Nissan sport brakes –
4-piston opposed aluminum calipers with 14.0" x 1.30" vented front discs
2-piston opposed aluminum calipers with 13.8" x 0.80" vented rear discs

Nismo
(all Sport upgrades)
350 hp @ 7,400 rpm
276 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm
NISMO-tuned dual exhaust with H-pipe configuration
NISMO-tuned suspension with increased spring, dampening and stabilizer rates
NISMO reinforced 3-point front strut tower brace
NISMO front and rear performance body dampers
Front/Rear: Negative-lift includes unique front fascia with splitter spoiler, aerodynamic side sills, negative-lift rear diffuser and rear spoiler

I always forget about the rear diffuser.

For VIPOR

I tried to get the vital statistics for the base 370Z

0 to 60
quarter mile time/speed
top speed

and came up with too broad a range (including Car & Driver etc) to be useful. Do you have any stats for the NISMO in those categories? Also, what would be the minium mods I'd need to make to get my base model up to 350 hp? Thanks for the help.

vipor 11-09-2009 10:51 AM

The 1/4 mile speeds and all that are almost the same for the Nismo vs the base/touring/sport.

People are reaching 350whp with intake/exhaust/hfc/ecu/pulley mods so unless you wanna do forced induction start there

IMO the nismo does look better, but not MUCH in a way you put it... The rear end, to me too, is its only negative... But i love the look of the two models. IMO the Nismo wheels are sick, everyone loves the sport wheels its seems like, but to me the stock nismo wheels are just awesome.

I am not really sure if the nismo warrants the price tag it comes with but if you can afford it and dig the look there is no reason to not go with it. The guy nailed all the differences a few posts earlier....

The nismo exhaust is a bit of a let down imo and it would be nice if it came with adjustable coilovers because imo it doesnt sit low enough. And also no leather and the base stereo comes into play with some people who like creature comforts.. Id love to see a nismo touring model with the bose/nav.

I settled for the base 370z because I got an insanely good deal and its what I could afford and I am extremely pleased with the car. There's a few things I would like to upgrade like the radio and the brakes when they need replacing (with the akabono kits i found 800 for front 700 for rears), but the package you get with the base model is a steal and even more so with the base/sport (which was not avail for the deal i got at my dealership otherwise I would of went that route)... the nismo is $9,000 more than the car I got, that is a lot..

If i could put 9,000 into my base model right now I am pretty sure the finished product would come out being more satisfying to me than the nismo stock would be, but thats just me... Its all personal preference.. i love the front end/side profile/wheels of the nismo but the rear end to be is just EHH at best in my eyes ... Dont get me wrong the car is sick and im a fan but the price tag seems a bit high for me atleast... If i was sitting on a huge bank account and money didnt matter I would certainly go for the nismo and learn to like the rear end but out of value i think the base or base sport is the best option.

Yeah, there was a rag test a while back where the Sport had a quicker lap time than the NISMO :roflpuke2:

Nissan probably forgot to pull the spring spacers out of the media car. :icon18:

klubbheads 07-30-2010 01:37 PM

^lol!

wishihadnav 07-30-2010 02:46 PM

Nismo also has a slight interior difference...seats with "Nismo" stiched, red stiching instead of white, Nismo on the cluster, a SEXY plaque with your own production number..haha..

wishihadnav 07-30-2010 02:49 PM

if i had to do it all over again id get a base in blue instead..that's just me..

JACKPAC 07-30-2010 02:53 PM

I actually don't like the way the nismo looks. Especially in the front. To me it looks like an add-on body kit. But to each their own I guess. Some people apparently like it much more than the base.. haha.

Jeffblue 07-30-2010 03:16 PM

the nismo has a factory oil cooler, and comes with a factory twin turbo kit and a fully built motor....:icon14:
