Launching AT?

Hey guys I've had my Z for a couple years now but I can never figure out what's wrong with my launch. I get her up to 2k RPMs and if I go over the engine cuts and have to try again all while holding the brake in. I do have an UPREV tune. Is this causing the problem or is it bc it's AT? Does manual have this same issue? Do I have to pull the brake light fuse in order to get a proper launch? Thank you all in advance. Oh yeah it is in "manual mode" w VDC off.

Not trying to troll here. But serious question... Why are you trying to launch an AT anyway? And why go over 2k? It's been shown time and time again that launching does not really help times and often makes them worse (unless we're talking a dragster). Of my time at the autox track and practicing my 0-60 launches I found that revving to 2k and slowly feathering the gas to the floor yielded the fastest 0-60 times but never beat out a stand still launch by more than 1/10th of a second. So again, why launch? You don't need to launch to beat the 6MT guys around here. :stirthepot:

I just wana experiment with at what RPMs at the track give me the fastest times. At 2k launches I've made 13.23 passes at 308whp. I'm thinking my UPREV is limiting me past the 2k. It's so weird.

Fair enough! I'll leave the official answer to others that have experience with uprev as I've never used it. But damn, you've only got me beat by a quarter of a second? ;) jkjk. Good luck with all of that!

no launch just going full brake to full gas I hit 12.89 @111mph with a 1.950 60'

launching doesn't help. anytime I rev at all to launch I just spin and get worse times.

uprev isn't limiting you. there's a fuse that cuts throttle when brakes are applied with the car. it's stock ECU/car program.

Just do it enough to get the torque converter to lock and squat the car. I cant run the times FPenvy does but I do get some good launches doing this

I ran 12.98 with my 100% stock non sport auto Z with all season 285 rears with heavy 20' rims.

Pull the fuse, set tires to 29-30 psi, turn traction off, do a quick burn out, launch at about 1.5k rpm on manual mode.

At what temp? And where is the track located?

was the track downhill? lol

low time for stock with no LSD and all seasons.

Pull the brake fuse, Hold the gas at 1700 rpm. I try for 3200 rpms as the light goes green.
Try to launch just before the last yellow goes out.
Im getting 1.800 60 ft times.
My times bone stock were 13.20 to 13.30
Your time is really quick.

Does pulling the brake fuse cause any errors or check engines? Or will it mess up my UPREV tune? Just asking better safe than sorry!

It's all about traction. I am running Michelin a/s3 and found it to grip very close to summer tires. Read the reviews yourself on tirerack.

Some thinks its pointless on street tires, But you HAVE to do a burnout to get the rubber to hook at takeoff. That night I had a few 13.0 flat runs as well back to back.

The cool air and flat elevation most definitely helped too.

It won't cause any issues.

You also have to consider that some dynos read too optimistically. Especially from a tuner that what's to make you happy with your hyper hp numbers.

Put it on a mustang dyno and get a true whp reading for comparisons

If you have up rev you can turn of the comand that stops you having your foot on the brake and gas at the same time. Then you can stall it up as much as you want without pulling the fuse and having lights on the dash.
