Is that time with 324whp? Or stock engine

Tadpole 10-06-2014 08:20 PM

13.3 was my best time so far. I roll around the water box and spin the tires about 10 ft or so prior to staging. Traction control is off in manual mode. Brake torque to about 2500 RPM. Slight wheel spin with chirping, paddle shift at 7k, and grinning the whole time.

:D

I will join you out there at some point. Just need to fix up the rear axle click that showed up recently - already ordered parts. Oh and find some time.

Hammtastic 10-06-2014 10:31 PM

I'm ready to get out to the track. If I can hit 13.3, I'll be very satisfied. Then it's time to see what this car can do with some NA mods.

Do you have your slip by the way?

Yea I have it posted on the austin events thread. I'm going the 24th on a Friday in a few weeks. That clicking noise is your trans axles. My slips is laying around somewhere.

Jarblue shoot me a text since pm's don't work for me for some odd reason. 5 one 2 seven for 9 five 9 five six. My name is Ted.

I just have a base Touring model. No upgrades. Tires were BF Goodrich Comp2 on 18" base wheels. Nothing was unloaded from the car. I went down the track in 100% stock form with 3/4 tank of gas and most importantly.. VDC ON.

13.57 @ 105.14.

Needless to say but I'll say it anyway... Can't just mash the gas with a one-wheel wonder (VDC on or off). Spun all the way down the track like it did my second pass at 99MPH and 14.2 seconds. I think I finally hooked a little past the 1/8 mile mark. Left VDC on for my third pass and feathered the throttle down to keep the tire hooked the whole time. Result was the 13.57 pass and everyone who watched said it was a great run.

i only run VDC off.

the main issue off the bat you are having is no VLSD in the base model. sport model has a subpar VLSD but still has one vs base which doesnt. you will spin all day trying to drop gear and smash the gas in it.

there are many easy ways i could drop my personal best one of them being upgrading to a better LSD, drag radials, run on an empty tank, strip out all weight.

Tadpole 10-07-2014 12:39 PM

I occasionally break loose and boil and hop the tires. I run 14's doing it but man I look good!

i feel for you. I was in the same boat then i swapped that peg leg with a quaife LSD for $1200 and its the best moola you can spend.

Tadpole 10-08-2014 06:04 AM

Peg legs on the Z? Don't think so. Straight up posi track rear ends or so I thought.

It means you roll at 20 mph then mash the gas when you're ready to race. That makes it fair for people who don't know how to launch MT :stirthepot: :driving:

Definitely a peg-leg for sure. Straight up open diff. I spin the same tire all the time. :driving:

Tadpole 10-08-2014 06:58 PM

Well someone please educate me. My old school method is lifting up the rear of the car and moving one of the wheels in one direction. If they both move in the same direction it's a posi track, if they move in opposite direction it's a peg leg or limited slip. My Z rotates in the same direction and they both spin at the drag strip every time.
