With the understeer, any second thoughts on trying out a 'square' tire setup? I'm dying to find out how the car would perform with that kind of setup. Maybe also a front splitter... was it high speed or low speed or both?

It was definitely mechanical, not aero related, but aero up front would help at higher speeds. As for a square tire setup, I still think the car likes a little stagger. If I had more practice time with the car I can guarantee you I could have gotten the understeer to go away but with only one lap at a time I only had a few opportunities to see if my adjustments helped. By the end of the weekend it was much better than where we started. I don't think it is a chronic problem or a big enough problem to change my equipment, just need to find the happy spot in the settings.

So, on the fuel starvation issue. I experienced the same thing today on my car at Road Atlanta during the BMW Oktoberfest lapping days, turns 1 and 7 (right handers). Oil temp was approaching 260 and I thought and was focusing on that. Took a couple cool down laps, then went at it again going into the back half of the track, but for me, coming out of turn 7, the car totally died.

It wouldn't restart and fuel gauge showed empty. Wound up getting towed in, then filled it up and it only took under 14 gallons to fill it completely.

Now that I know what it was, I think that if I had ever completely shut the car off and then restarted it would have worked, but I never did that since I thought it was out of gas (even though it was half full when I started, after 3 previous sessions), and the car thought it was out, so it shut down the gauge and fuel pump?

Regardless, its very embarrassing to get towed off the track, especially at a national BMW event for running out of gas. Other than that, the car is feeling pretty good.

Sorry, cant help but chuckle a little. I dont think I'd go out with anything less than 1/3rd of a tank at least....

I had half a tank, and when you use almost a quarter tank per session, its kind of inconvenient and ridiculous to fill up every session, although I think I will be from now on. My 350z and my C6 never had a problem like this, nor do probably any other car on the track on any given weekend.

Some silly things it seems Nissan overlooked in their sports car, it seems lol

What would just be down right awesome in a can would be if Nismo would come out with parts to correct this causing warranty to stay in tact. I'm sure you guys aren't worried about that but having the parts be factory backed isn't such a bad thing and it isn't like Nismo doesn't have racing experience.

I've had fuel starvation and throttle cut out with only 5 bars from full. I've had the engine cut off completely and not been able to restart with half a tank... had to coast off the track, and likewise was unable to diagnose the cause - thought it might have been electronic or oil temp related, but turned out to be fuel starvation.

We need a dedicated thread on fuel starvation in the track section focused on solutions (not whining). Who's gonna start it ?

I did, and Valentino offered one possible solution there.
