Rear cornering response RE760
 

I replaced the rear Advan sports 245-45-18 on my base 2013 Z with Bridgestone RE 760 tires. The fronts are still the stock Advans. Rear grip is good but the cornering response feels “rubbery” for lack of a better term compared to the stock Advan sport. Rear camber is set at -1.5 degrees. Rear toe in is 0.100”. At highway speeds the front tires turn in precisely as before, but the rear doesn’t generate equal cornering force until after a slight delay. That makes the car feel more and more unstable (twitchy) as speed increases. I guess that means the RE760’s need more slip angle than the Advans to generate the same cornering force. Is this caused by the rear suspension setting or should I change tires?

My tire dealer has agreed to give full credit for the RE760’s against a move to an upgraded tire. So I am now looking at Michelin pilot super sport to get that precise cornering feel on the rears. How are the S04’s with respect to precise cornering response?

No, not drag racing. Just having fun with spirited driving and passing trucks on twisty 2 lane roads here in East Texas. The Advan rears were predictable and stable under these driving conditions. The RE760's are unstable if the pavement is the least bit rutted by the heavy truck traffic. I know this is not a track application, but I was hoping some of your knowledge gained on the track about tire characteristics could be applied to my situation. Any advice you share will be appreciated.

Buy 4 tires, that would be a start
