whining sound under acceleration, possibly LSD?

hi guys,

installed Quaife LSD about half year ago, car has whining sound under acceleration coming from the rear ever since the installation. i'm not sure if its LSD related or not..
anybody has any idea? or could it be serious?
this car sees track about once-twice a month and rarely street driven.

thanks

I'd say it's diff related. They didn't set the diff up right. Most likely it just whines. I'd take it apart and make sure everything got put together correctly.

Whine only under acceleration is likely that the ring is slightly too far away from the pinion and I have the same issue with my Quaife. I had it "professionally" installed because I knew how perfect you have to get the backlash on these and I felt I couldn't do it correctly the first time. Now that I've taken it back and had it redone and it still whines some, I wish I would have just done it myself.

I'm curious...the two mentions above have the Quaife, but with a gear whine, that's just coincidental - right? I didn't think the differential-type had a direct effect on gear whine. Also, did you guys increase the gear ratio at the same time? Not saying that steeper gear ratios can't get setup properly, but it seems the setup with lower gearing needs to be that much more precise.
