17" rear wheels possible with Sports brakes?

I want to keep drifting costs down to a minimum, and considering tires are the biggest expense by far, that's where I'm aiming at first.
When I have my 18" winter setup on, I noticed there's still a little bit of clearance left and wonder if it's possible to fit 17" wheels on there.
If anyone can clarify, it would be greatly appreciated.

You can, I have run 17's all the way around on my Nismo with a minor issue of clearance on the front, but I would run 18's for lots of reasons. Good Luck!

Wellllllll, lots of drifters use 2 different wheels, so, good info for the OP

Actually...
I'd like to see this!

hey i just happened to have a friend with a s13 running 17" 350z wheels. i tested his out on the back of the 370 n it barely cleared the rear caliper, which is good news but i'm curious how you managed to clear 17"s on the front? what wheels do you use?

apollo, can you show us a pic of your nismo on 17s?

I have some 18x12 rotas for drag radials and they didnt clear the rear sport brakes, I had to grind the brakes down a ton. Before ordering any 17s I would try and find someone local to let me test fit that particular wheel model

17"s all the way around with race rubber.

Wow you've made me a believer. I'd like to know how did you come to find 17s that fit the front. Also what wheels are those? Thanks a bunch.

17"s on a nismo/370Z = :superghey: lol
They are enkei's RP03's I believe, I'm not the owner of the rims so I can only guess that the rears are a +18 and can only guess the fronts are either a +30, +35, or +38

I would run 18"s.

I think those are 5zigen fn01s, actually.

The enkei's have ribs around the bolt pattern for additional structure.

I refuse to answer out of fear that downsizing is a slippery slope ending with 11". ;)

So, how do we find out whose car this is?

I am definitely not opposed to 17" wheels.

Can we just wrap our rotors in rubber and go?

That is my car, when the original owner still had it.

You can put a business card between the front rim and brake caliper and that's it. So there is a clearance issue, and there is scatches on both to prove it. You can run 17's but I would not recommend it, though I might run those rims and race tires in October for a race.

That is my car. I didn't start this setup, but I have used it for a couple events not. I'm looking to upgrade to 18s

The wheel sizes are Front 17x9 +15 w/ Kumho Ecsta V710 275/40 and Rear 17x10 +12 w/ Kumho Ecsta V710 295/40

Here is a pic of the inside of the rim. The caliper and rim doesn't rub all the time just when things are really hot, or if I've been off roading, or picked up something on the track.

So possible, but scary!

I'm gonna bump this old thread to see if anyone has made this possible with a 17" wheel
