I also run a large front bar and no rear bar for the same reason. At Road America you don't set fast lap times with speed into the corner, but how quickly you get out of them. Getting on the throttle early onto the long straights is hugely important.

Exactly. :tiphat:

That makes sense, I am mainly just reciting what I have read, but I am looking into sways bars sometime soon. "By the book" one would be lead to believe that a stiffer rear sway and a softer front would be what our car needs, but everything is relative to the existing setup of the car. So for a car that is OEM suspension like mine, would you go as stiff as possible up front and then add a little in the back as well?

You'll know why stiff rear bar isn't great, I ran the stiffest rear setting on my hotchkis bar (350 not 370z) and in corners it felt like my rear wheel wanted to lift, so I would start throttling out and my car would kick out.

martin82 08-22-2013 09:51 PM

Lol not possible I'm in west la w coilovers and car is in Oc at corner3 garage, needs a corner balance, install, alignment!! Now deciding on new single TI exhaust as well!! W hfc and swapable to test pipe install headers and then go for a tune!

martin82 08-22-2013 09:52 PM

I'm trying to make sept 8 at acs / Nissan meet if possible

DLo 08-22-2013 09:58 PM

I'll be at corner3 tomorrow AM for some brake work. What coilovers did you have in your car before the jrz's?

martin82 08-22-2013 10:25 PM

Nice, what r u doing to the brakes?
I had m7 coilovers sold them to pick up the jrz! Gonna order the tomei single exhaust soon and sell the ark dts exhaust. Need the single for space for a diff cooler later!!!

DLo 08-23-2013 04:04 PM

Nothing big just pads, SS lines, finishing the stillen brake cooling kit, etc in prep for track days.

martin82 08-23-2013 04:11 PM

nice what pads did you go with?

DLo 08-23-2013 04:44 PM

Hawk HP+

I had them on my Evo X and they were excellent for my needs (dd and occasional track).

Just be careful. The HP+ can fade rather badly on this car and trigger ice mode on track. As long as you don't push them too hard they will be okay.

DLo 08-23-2013 10:38 PM

Yikes! Dully noted!

Trust me. Get the quick disconnects. It will make your life easier. Spring rates sound fine (albeit on the soft side IMO), but you are definitely going to want more spring once aero and R-comps come into play. I run just under 18k front and 15.2k rear (1000/850lb) on my autocross car. Not apples to apples since I use very large A6's and have aero. I also don't use a rear sway bar.

Off topic, how do you convert kg to lb? Cause it sure as hell isn't the correct mathematical way.

synolimit 09-05-2013 08:14 PM

Dear lord I know nothing about suspension reading yours guys posts. Can't there just be a "here's your spring, sway, settings, have fun!"

Sure it is.

2.204 lbs per kg x 25.4 mm per inch = 55.9974146

Lol times 25.4 is not kg to lbs. that's adding anothe factor, little more in depth. Where's the per inch part found or is it 25.4 and that's it? Stock front is like 8.5x2.2x25.4= 474lbs?

You are converting from kg/mm (kilograms per millimeter) to lbs/in (pounds per inch), the 2 values are the conversion factors for converting kg to lbs (2.204) and mm to inches (25.4). Multiply the 2 together and you get the total conversion factor (55.9974) or you can apply each individually.

e.g. 8.5 kg/mm x 2.204 x 25.4 = 476 lbs/in
or 8.5kg/mm x 55.9974 = 476 lbs/in
