I did my first high speed track/training day today in ~108 deg heat at Pacific Raceways. The heat is probably an all time record for Western WA so I barely managed to keep the temp below 280. Well low enough to not hit limp mode. Sure was a lot of information to put together to drive the course respectably (at least to my expectation).

Per the title, after going through the class, working with an instructor and having a friend take me on a few laps in his GT40 (1.2 g in the corners?) (and my instructor in his crazy race modded 911) I really gained an appreciation for what it takes to drive a good line especially at Pacific Raceways. The local Porsche club sponsered the event and they did a great job ........what a blast.

Looks like I'll need to start a new hobby. :tup:

The track bug has claimed another one. Funny how you can dig a bottomless money pit in a single day :)

Yeah, just take out your wallet and start dumping it out...

Your going to need...

Oil cooler,
Racing brake fluid,
Track pads,
Stainless lines,
High temp clutch fluid,
High temp diff fluid...now a new diff...now a diff cooler,
Track wheels and tires,
Helmet,
and this does not even cover the wear items...

But worth every penny!

So would oil cooler be priority 1 on the list? We only did about 5 or 6 laps a session, I guess the longer the car is out there the more likely there would be a problem with the heat. Iv'e also started to drive the track in my mind and relaize I really drove pretty lame, I could have used more of the cars capability by down shifting in a turn for a quicker out and due to the sycro-rev I would have remained flat .........so much to learn.
