Serpentine Belt- Track

Searched but did not see. At Watkins Glen Today- Lost serpentine belt entering Turn #8. I think it went at the instant I turned in (2009 - 50 K miles, 16 track days). Fortunately I had enough to set the well and no one immediately behind me was able to pull wheel enough and scrub speed avoiding gravel pit.

You might think to inspect serpentine belt- honestly never crossed my mind and I am all over everything else- I was lucky if had lost in esses's could have been a whole nother story.

Towed to Smalleys Garage- they trying to track down a belt:mad:

Any aftermarket pulleys or other potential contributing factors?

None all stock pully belt. Only mods CAI, Catbac, oil cooler, brakes

I think just too much track time. Monday-Tuesday event so lite turnout. Did 110 miles yesterday on track. Today 5 sessions some as long as 1 hour. Didn't check odo but probably 150 miles on track today. Insane great time just a little too much fun at once I guess. Real happy broke when it did one minute sooner or later could have been real bad

I should add when I opened hood in paddock looked like I hit a squirrel - belt rope fuzz was everywhere - completely disintegrated only saw fuz and little bits of rubber

No other damage from what I could see. Drove over to flat bed. In local shop now I stuck at hotel

I always have a spare with me at the track. Specially being there never in stock.

All repaired and back on road. Got towed to Smalley's Garage at bottom of hill from Watkins Glen - great car guy place. Original Tech Center for Watkins Glen road race back in 50's still family owned from day one... Super service, great track talk and deep in history. Look forward to breaking again for some more great service. It was $100 well spent. They do expect my alternator to probably fail soon- they pulled a ton of belt fuzz out of windings - belt completely disintegrated. But I had done just about 2 hours+ on track when it failed

If you have car problems at Watkins Glen this is the only place to go for service - enjoy do not see this to often
