Autocross on Stock Tires?

Not sure if this should be on the tires thread or here but anyways. I have a 370Z Base model and plan on getting into autocross. My question is will the stock tires be able to handle this kind of stress? Currently the tires have about 20K on them but I have never tracked the car before. What do you guys think?

Keep the stock tires to learn on, they will take the abuse. They will also help you learn the limits at a slower speed.

Awesome! Glad to hear I don't need to go get brand new tires right away :)

have fun with it and yes stock tires will work without problems, search the list for tire pressures to use. Do you plan to run scca or nasa...

I don't know the difference, I am still reading up on everything. I was going to try it out at Nismo Fiesta this year which looks like it is scca. Figured I would give it a try there and see how I like it.

You guys are underestimating the stock Advan Sport tires.

I got faster times on them than on my (slightly heat-cycled) wider Dunlop Star Specs.

True they're not a race compound tire, but they're near the top available for street tires.

You'll be fine, and you can even be fast.

SCCA / NASA, depends on who you are running with and the classes are different.
NASA develops classes based on Modification, so I ran in B Class, but it also had some individuals that had made mods to there cars and were moved up (91 CRX and 99 Miata).

SCCA, just classifies different and I was in C Stock.

It doe not really matter if you are just starting out, its to have fun and learn how the car handles
