Can I do 1 more Track day with my rears RE-11?

I don't know if I can do 1 more HPDE track day coming up in Feb 3rd.

I have pretty much no tread left. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

Also, another question. For Tread measurement, am I supposed to use the wider marker (left side) or the thinner one (right side)?

Lol, that's not tread, I think you won't have enough traction

They're not designed at racing slicks, lol

thanks for the input! I will get replacements then.

Lol you have more than enough for dry day! Don't change them unless you Need wet tire. Little sketchy for wet driving.

DEpointfive0 01-20-2013 09:02 PM

Lol, I'd trust Shamu or Spohn or chrischhorn over my opinion

scruffydog 01-20-2013 09:03 PM

I'm confused...so will I have enough traction? I think it'll be a dry day on Feb 3rd. I'm gonna be running Hi intermediate group. I won't get to the pt where wires will be showing right?

If its dry, you will be fine. as for which bar to use, I think its whichever is the worst, but you aren't going to blow a tire or anything. I run Hoosiers until the first one cords.

Like a man! Lol

Should be fine. I know of several guys that will shave tires so they can still compete in classes that require a DOT approved tire.

djtodd 01-21-2013 12:01 AM

Agreed. Traction wont be worse. Probably better than a new tire on a dry day.

cossie1600 01-21-2013 09:50 AM

not sure about track days. but they are definitely slower at your tread level in autox for me. still. it is plenty safe, especially given how good your edges look. u will be fine as long as it isn't wet

I see a differences when the edges on these tires wear out. not in the middle so much. I am on re11 #9-12 now

The bigger bar vs small bar is ~0.0300" different in height. The bigger bar is higher & closer to the perimeter of the tire; the bigger bar always reads to be less (worst); this is true all around the tire.
