Island Dragway in NJ - Closed forever.
 

Island Dragway has officially closed. I've searched and that's the word on all the forums, and their website is down.

A small rural strip, it was notorious for being the spot where Don Garlits broke 200mph in 1964.

That leaves two strips in NJ: Raceway Park and Atco.

I'm not entirely surprised. In business = Adapt or die. They never changed.

I had some fun and good days there. Never a great sign of our times for motorsports.

Hmmm never even heard of the place - is that in northern jersey? Could be because I live 5 minutes from Englishtown Raceway Park. heh

I use to go there as a kid to watch the drags and also raced BMX bikes there too, I was just there about 5 years ago but nothing was going on.

that sucks never heard of it and im only 45 minutes away :(
