mike's currently got the lead!! :woot:
Looks like contact with another car may have taken them out.
ugh, not cool :(
I think it was one of the ST class cars. BMW 328.
Never been so sick to my stomach in my life.
ST car spun in the laces of the boot and was sitting on the putter edge of the track. Corner workers were waiving yellow flags and pointing mike to the inside As Mike slows down and goes around the corne he sees the 328... He heads all the way to the inside... As he gets closer the BMW up the car in her an dries head on into Mike. We had the perfect car for the conditions. We absolutely had the best balanced and handling package for the 90 degree track. While the v8s struggled to put the power down... We were flat from turn one till the brake zone at the bus stop. We will be missing the Indy test next week... As the car / chassis is pretty much written off. The roof is buckled... The floor is buckled. Another little rid bit about our front control arm development.... The right from arm bent... But did not break. ;) When you see the video of this.... You will be sick. PS....... We are lighter than the AM Performance cars ever got down to. The legal weight for the car per Grand Ams rules has not changed ... It was 2900 lbs it currently is 2900.... They struggled to get it down... We have a ballast box in the car with 15 lbs in it. Sorry for the rant.... But seriously not in the mood AT ALL...to deal with another AM performance rant. Get the facts .... Seriously As for now..... |
:(

You guys have our support. I hope you get back on track soon. And don't worry about AM ranting... it's only one troll that likes to try and stir your pot. |

Great meeting you today.....you almost got to witness a little history.
;) |
Great meeting you also. Enjoyed every minute of the show you guys put on today. Almost didn't stay to the end. Just gut-wrenching.
That's some damage. :(
so sorry to read this BJ. Hope you guys get back on track soon.
Sorry to hear of misfortune. Bummed to see you guys miss out on next races. Wish Nissan would step up and fund a second car for these touring car series. These are contact intensive races. Really hard to keep a single car in whole season successfully. At least with second car you guys would have higher probability of compteting in every race. I wish another team would bring a couple 370s to grand am series just so we would have a car in the field every race. Best of luck getting back this season.
i'm just glad mike's ok, that sounds like a nasty accident.
I'm pretty bummed about this, I know that car was primed to win. I'm rooting for Dorans DP and glad Mike was unharmed.
Yeah... I can't sleep
Best of luck to you all
That sucks to hear, but glad everyone's ok.
Sucks, buddy, but you'll get 'em next time!
Sucks to hear, hopefully you can get back out there soon.
We know, now as ever, the 370 has the speed to win. We know Doran is a winning team. You guys have pushed the package further than anyone else and the fans, enthusiasts are behind you. Keep us posted on the repairs and we'll still be cheering the Nissan's return.
Right now the game plan is to strip this car and get it to the frame rack..
While that goes on... we are obtaining a body in white a will begin the build on chassis #2. The new chassis would then be debuted at Indy July 27th. We def have a solid package right now... We were the only car in GS that could go from turn one to the bus stop flat. When you watch the tv coverage you will see the camaros pull us between 1 and 2... Then the they slide and push and slide again... And we are able to keep our foot in it. |
We have something in common. My car is on the frame machine now.
sorry to hear guys ... we'll get 'em at Indy ...
That's so sad about the avoidable accident. I felt for sure that this was your race, and it was looking very much like it was going to be. Hope you are able to get a car back together soon.

Mike Skeen: 2012 Nissan 370Z Watkins Glen - YouTube
For your enjoyment.... And then at the end. |
Damn that was a hell of a hit.
You guys looked like you really had some nice drive-off, though. |
thanks for posting BJ
Damn that's awful. To take the car threw the field and for that to happen......... Don't get what the OP was doing. Could of been worse with more people involved.
Good luck getting it back. Keep us updated. |
I don't think it's fixable from what he said. That other driver that hit him should be suspended for a few races.
The car was hookedup.com
The 997s still have some good pull and great gearing (hmmmm) But we were consistently faster up the esses .. And through the boot. Found something right after qualifying and going through tech that we changed for morning warm up or practice 3. In that session we tried it and went a step further... It was unreal.. We had just the slightest understeer in the race ... But everyone else was much worse. Our car stayed very consistent. We worked very hard on the platform and really nailed it. |
Damn. That was some exciting racing. Horribly disappointing end. :( I'm sure that if your luck would change for just a little bit you'll be standing on the podium.
The chassis will go to the frame shop so we shall see.... I'll say this.. The roof is buckled. By far one the best if not the best production based series on the planet.
It also is one of the longest running series in the US although it's changed names a couple times. But when you get 60+ car fields every race ... Indy we are expecting 90 cars. |
that hit was insanely hard, i'm glad no one got hurt. :wtf: was that guy doing??

yea but had i been in that car, knowing where i was and what was going on, i probably would have just floored it in reverse and get into the runoff. then recover and try to go on...
... that is if i wasn't in shock and out of my mind lol |

And while I don't claim to know anything about actual road racing, why the hell aren't the corner workers more involved in making sure this kinda crap doesn't happen. It seems to me that having the corner worker hold the car until the track is clear would be an easy solution to this problem. |
