^ thx for the tip, I'm sure that will make more sense once I'm in there! lol

Definitely the hardest part. And then to get the O ring set in place and compressed. This is where I kept having a small gas leak.
|
Yeah I had a faint fuel smell still today during a test drive after I filled the tank (level sensor works, yay). Most likely either I screwed up one of the O-rings, or it's what Charles was talking about with putting Teflon on the 3 studs (which I didn't do). Either way those are easy things to mess with at this point, I'll probably go back in there and look at all that tomorrow.

I didn't have any fuel leaks, but I got some aircraft fuel tank sealant and applied it over everything on both sides to be safe. I figured if the factory put some sealant over it, I should too.
Hopefully I never have to service the tank again though, I don't know how hard it will be to remove. |
with some teflon paste on the threads for the 3 main studs, that should be all that is needed. any other leaks would be the stock o-rings which are, in theory, re-useable. but they tend to expand if you get them wet with gas, and it can make them trickier to reinstall.
|
I used the string trick too. Also I put RTV around the 3 studs on the fuel pump to seal it.
|
So yeah my fuel smell was exactly what was expected: lack of sealant on those three studs, and there was a light sheen of fuel on the cover of that unit. The O-rings were still sitting right in their channels perfectly so I didn't touch them. Took me all of 10 minutes to fix it, doing one stud at a time and leaving the can assembled and attached (and another 10-15 minutes to lift each assembled can a little to check O-rings).

^ would you help me install mine for some $$? I was going to be down there anyway to have my dad help me install it (he lives north of Houston) but I figure you would be able to knock it out faster and without any mistakes.

There are 2 left now. Based on a PM just sent to me, I believe we will be down to the last 1 within the next few hours.
Yes there will be another batch for sure. It will very likely be a couple months before we build it, as I am struggling to get these new GTR parts all wrapped up at the moment. Thank you everybody. As with all products I have ever built and sold, I will stand behind these items and support them for as long as I am capable of coherent technical conversation. So for anyone who sells their's later, needs a replacement part, or needs technical help for re-configuring it for multiple pumps, etc... I will always take care of it. For as long as I have been in this business, I have always had a reputation for taking a long time to finish new products and always running out of stock... but I make it my first priority to take care of those who take care of me. I am currently shopping CNCs to hopefully resolve my inventory/production delays. I am also exploring some ways to possibly bring down the cost of this product.. but that isnt getting full time attention at the moment. BTW if anyone jumps on the last one... I would prefer to be PM'd here first to make sure someone didnt already jump on it, before making a transaction on the website. Also note that it will be about 2 weeks before the last one can ship. One of the pieces has a big flaw in the anodizing and it has to be re-anodized (which looks 100% as good as first time anodizing, it get stripped before re-anodizing). |
^ you the man.
|
Glad you will be making more! With the new home build im trying to not touch any accounts they are watching, stupid lenders, wish I could pay cash for a house lol.
|
annnnnd it looks like the last one may be gone.
i will post up if anything changes. there is one with dibs from PM contact the last few days.. if he changes his mind on that one, i will post up. otherwise, as far as i can tell so far, we are out of them! thanks everyone |
