Track Day under the Sun!!!

Went to my first track experience with the Z past Sunday, was great. It was at Autodromo Mobil1, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This is my local track, I'd been there a couple of times before with other cars. There were some Drifters practicing, so we had to split in 30 min sessions between drifters and track cars.

Car felt great most of the session, except i was getting fuel starvation on this long double right hander on 3/4 tank. Next time will have to bring a fuel can with me to fill up when needed. Brakes never faded, tough i Was doing a couple of hot laps and then letting everything cool down. Wasn't being too aggressive cornering, but pushing the car in the straights. Temp was around 90-95F, usual temp down here. Oil temperatures were around 240 most of the time, but peaked to 250 when I started pushing it, this track is next to the sea, so you can imagine the humidity there.

Setup: Stillen G3's, NST pulley kit, z1performance 25R Oil Cooler, Motul RBF 600 fluid, Tein S-tech Springs, 20mm Spacers all around, stocks brake pads; Tires (F)Yokohama YK580 (R)Nitto NT555 (stock sizes) these came with the car when bought. Played a bit with my rear tires pressure, but didnt see much difference, 30 to 35psi

For Next Track day, have ART pipes sitting in the garage waiting for my F.I exhaust to be bolted and then Uprev tuned, probably change my front pads to project mu B specs. After this I might get whiteline Sway Bars and call it a day. All in all was really great fun, plan on sharing my future trips to the track with you guys. :tiphat:

Yes, We have two full tracks here, the other one is about a 2hr drive from the Capital (Santo Domingo). Pretty cool, only other island that has bunch of racetracks is Puerto Rico, big import scene over there.

Have any of you played with tires psi at the track? and what have been your results?

I always shoot for 35psi hot

Oh man I didn't know DR had a track! I'm Dominican and was thinking about buying a house in DR, now I can look forward to possibly importing my Z as well when the time comes.

I haven't been on a track yet but I usually run 35psi for my autocross runs. Great pics too!

The racing scene here is pretty big, Touring Racing class is the most competitive in Central america and Caribbean, lots of cars that used to run on the WTCC and BTCC are running in our national championship, Dominican Touring Series.

If you know Spanish, you can follow up with all the racing scene (drag, track, drifting, bikes, etc..) going on in D.R on this website: Razine.com - República Dominicana | Racing Magazine

Nice to hear from a fellow Dominican, where you born here or the US?

the track down here needs lower psi hot, the pavement is old and the trackbeing close to the sea gets all that salt. :)
