Yeah, Autobahn full was a fun track, even though its a bit flat. LOTS of nice run-off there though, to instill a bit more confidence...

You still on stock rotors? I assume not. I'm fairly sure its time for me to swap out to new ones. Going to go w/ the Raybestos rotors that 'Vette guys track a lot - cant beat $50 a pop...

JB1 05-03-2012 10:54 PM

Yep, still the stock rotors! But I'll be needing new ones later this season. Im planning on doing a couple more track days this year then last and a season with the local Autox club of course. $50 a pop for rotors? Sounds like a good deal, I'll have to look I to that!

Sorry, just looked it up. A LITTLE more than that, but still cheap. Go to Rockauto.com, and search your car, and check rotors. The fronts (Raybestos 980664) are $73.79 each, and rears (Raybestos 980663) are $54.79. I guess they wear a bit quicker, so you may as well use aggressive pads and buy rotors more since a set of Carbotech's are about $100 than these rotors! lol

Nope. Just goes away.

Here's a quick link.
Brake Tech - Cryogenics 101

sixpax 05-04-2012 10:26 AM

Thanks SPOHN.

What will they think of next ? Laser surgery on the headlights to remove imperfections and increase aerodynamics ?

sixpax 05-04-2012 10:42 AM

...I have not taken my numbers off the car yet. I think I am going to leave them on there. Normal ? Or am I fairly weird.

You could buy magnetic numbers. I leave mine on. But it's not a DD. Course some people wouldn't want to DD with a wing either. Haters.

Pay some shop 25 bux, they will freeze it like Austin powers style. Part comes back out stronger and more heat resistant

Magnets will probably fly off

I have a 2011 Altima I drive everyday .... Z kind of spends most of its time in the garage. I like the numbers on there ... If I get hated on just because of the numbers I can't wait too see what happens when VBD Graphics gets done doing the whole car.

Prolly for SPOHN they would. I'm pretty slow they might stay on there.

Which club are you going with/when are you going? I'd love to meet another Z34 at the track! You should check out 3ballsracing and come to Grattan with us. One of the most fun tracks in the area.

I usually leave mine on for a couple weeks after. Last year I had hell getting my painters tape number off though... the detailer had to really work on it they said.

Going with Autointerests, May 26. Will be the first time with this club, so I don't yet know what they are like. All other days I've done so far were with MPV, they're good, lot of track time. There will be at least 2 Z34's on the 26, me and Spearfish25. I'll keep Grattan in mind, looks like 3balls goes there quite a lot.

I might be able to make that one. :P Are y'all doing both days or just Saturday? I wasn't a big fan of that group... felt a little disorganized compared to some other clubs. I hear they're improving though.

Nice, another Z! I'll be doing the Saturday only, Spearfish is doing both days. I'll be in the novice group though, first time at Gingerman. I assume you'll be at least intermediate?

sig11 05-04-2012 04:10 PM

Yeah. I'd probably do Intermediate... I had a pretty interesting instructor with them last time. Really got me on the power.

It'll take a blow torch to get them off...that's how long I am leaving them there.

It was an incredible experience. I had lingering doubts all the way up until on the grid ready to go ... then everything after that happened so fast you won't have any time to question your "nerve".

Craig are you going on the hyperdrive on June 16th? I'm signed up and have my xp8 and Motul rbf600 ready to install next weekend.

Sadly no ... tho I might go up there Saturday just to hang out, but I don't have everything I need to get out there again so was no point in signing up. I got a Z-1 oil cooler sitting in the garage I need to put on, and not enough cash right now to get my brakes. I change my mind everyday on what to do with the brakes anyway LOL.

Very cool you are going. Are you doing HPDE-1 or the Hyperdrive ? Either way dude get ready, you will leave "stoked" and start thinking about when you can go back before you even get out of the parking lot.

I'm very excited! I'm just doing the hyperdrive for now. I'll do an HPDE after i get an oil cooler, but I might change my mind on that. My checking account still needs some recovery time after finishing school. I know they're having another hyperdrive/HPDE at Summit Point in August and I would like to go to that one as well.

sixpax 05-26-2012 01:59 PM
