Good options for track wheels?

What are you guys using for dedicated track wheels? I don't really want to use my stock sport wheels. I do lots of autocross and plan on doing hpde's starting this year. Any recommendations? I was thinking about stepping down to 18's

///MSH 02-26-2012 07:37 PM

I just bought enkei PF01'1's...18x9.5+30 (f) and 18x10.5+15 (r)
I get them tomorrow...enkei and Nissan, said they would fit, but I think it'll be close. I will advise. They were very affordable by comparison.

Red__Zed 02-26-2012 07:39 PM

depends on budget.

SSR type-f
Enkei RPF1
Enkei PF01
TE37
forgestar f14

corbin09 02-26-2012 07:43 PM

MB Battles 18x9.5 and they are like 180 pop.

Mike 02-26-2012 07:48 PM

Forgestar F14, 1200 per set

Onelownismo 02-27-2012 06:31 AM

Thanks for the input. What sizes would you recommend? Square setup or staggered?

Mike 02-27-2012 08:10 AM

I run 4 18x10.5 +34 (front offsets) and use a rear 20mm spacer to keep a square setup. Running 295/40-18 Hoosiers all around. I was running 275/35-18s but the car was too low and scraped the undertray and front bumper under braking.

Onelownismo 02-28-2012 10:25 AM

Now my next problem is how do I transport them to the races haha

Tow a small trailer - lots of autocross/track guys do. Try Harbor Freight for the trailer.

One more reason to get a co-driver. Pre-requisite....you guessed it, he needs a truck and a cordless impact gun :-)

Enkei RPF1's-little pricey but one of the lightest wheels made. I'm a noob so I am regurgitating what other people say, but there are tons of 240/350/370 guys atthe track events I go to(yay Corner 3!) . Pretty much every serious track 350/370 I see runs 18's/10.5". Most of the guys use 285 RS3's or they swap to Nittos for their time attack events.

As for transporting them, you can swap them the night before-unless they are not DOT compliant. Otherwise, you need to get a GF with an SUV ;).

Great. They clear front and rear breaks no problem. The fronts tuck-in just a hair, but are practically flush. The rears stand proud by the smallest amount. At least by my perspective.

It'll be a week or so.....if I can dig up some photos from last summer. Sorry, but I am away on business, so I can't search my pictures. If I don't have any good pics, it'll be a couple weeks as my car is torn apart awaiting my Penske due-in this Thursday :yum:

Reaper42 05-07-2013 12:30 AM

I have PF01s on my track car.

I wouldnt ever buy any cheap stuff like that for tracking....

GSS138 05-08-2013 04:56 PM

Yar, spend the 100 dollars extra and get some Enkeis or Forgestars. Don't go cheap on wheels, brakes, or tires. Those wheels look more like show wheels that "look" like racing wheels.

I'm no track veteran but I can tell you that when you are steering through a corner at 90 MPH, the last damn thing in the world anyone cares about is what their wheels look like.

Onelownismo 05-30-2013 04:53 PM

I ended up buying rpf1s

clintfocus 05-31-2013 01:53 PM

im on PF01, 18x10.5 sqaure, 285/35/18 square

XwChriswX 05-31-2013 01:58 PM

Another set to think about is the Wedsport TC105N's.
