Great driving, good pass after the 2 minute mark from keeping him under pressure. I have never been there, but looks like a hard track to pass on.
|
Good luck Brian! Keep us all posted on the car.
|
I was out shooting photos of my Z, so I missed the stream.
BUT YOU CAN STILL WATCH THE REPLAY OF RACE 1 |
Great job Brian finishing both races, it was unfortunate that the other two Z had crashes.
We went by the paddock after the race Sunday but you were already packing up the car. Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully Nissan's involvement will further the development of the platform and make it more competitive. |

Of course I had to walk up when you guys were prepping for the shoot with the 2 models (which I will be patiently waiting to see). I at least got to say hi and exchange a handshake. http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...82912953_n.jpg http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...88838537_n.jpg |
All in all, I'm pretty happy with how things went. The Friday morning practice was the *first* time that car hit the track. The weekend was basically a test session for us and we learned a lot so now we've got our punch-list for changes. Differential cooling is definitely at the top of that list. Handling will get better and we should see some moderate power gains. We had terrible corner-entry and mid-corner push and once the diffs overheated, the corner off was terrible as well.
And yes the girls were amazing. Meet hot waitresses at dinner and make them a deal FTW! Apparently we created quite a stir in the paddock with them - got the stink-eye from all the other flag girls. Huge kudos to Patrick McGinnis (HKYStormFront) who was our photographer for the weekend. Worth every penny. And if you want more - go to the Winghouse in St. Petersburg where we found them. WOW. Puts the local Hooters down the road to shame. On to Long Beach! |
Great job!
I'm the one Pat called friday morning to ask about the fuel starvation. Question on the differential. When I transition from 10a to 10b at Road Atlanta, going up the hill, it feels almost like the clutch is slipping and the car bogs a little. Is that the differential not being able to keep up when hot? |

And yes that's what you're feeling. If it's bad enough, you'll actually see the revs jump and then settle back down once you get the weight re-centered. Very similar feeling to clutch slippage. |
Wow! I experienced that a few times last year and couldn't figure out what the heck it was. Nice to know.
Congratulations too! Hope to meet ya at the Detroit GP! |

All I gotta say is, the kid can shoot pictures. |

/threadjack side note: the CRP GTR that was at the event this past weekend caught fire massively. mike posted something about the driveshaft snapping and hitting a fuel line. not sure what happened. hope his GTR is better sorted |

wow looks like you scraped the wall... but it doesnt look that bad. how did ti happen?
|
brian was letting a GT class driver pass on the inside of a curve, hit "the marbles" and slid into a tire wall. thought it was ok. turned the next left just fine... the following right hander didn't go so well.
|
|
Defintly think the Black RPF1 wheels look better than the old Silver Enkei setup.
http://jpmcgphotography.smugmug.com/...IMG2622-XL.jpg You can see how hard Stout (driving Shaffer's #52 car) was pushing behind Brian. White tire smoke coming into the brake zone. I think they were having an issue with the ABS system early on, but got it sorted out later. |
Nice :)
|
Looks good

Love the last two pics through turn 6. Really looks fast. :)

There's a lot of air under that right front!
