Great driving, good pass after the 2 minute mark from keeping him under pressure. I have never been there, but looks like a hard track to pass on.

Dustin@Z1 03-22-2012 11:24 PM

Good luck Brian! Keep us all posted on the car.

takjak2 03-24-2012 08:25 PM

I was out shooting photos of my Z, so I missed the stream.

BUT YOU CAN STILL WATCH THE REPLAY OF RACE 1

PapaJFresh 03-25-2012 04:33 PM

Great job Brian finishing both races, it was unfortunate that the other two Z had crashes.

We went by the paddock after the race Sunday but you were already packing up the car.

Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully Nissan's involvement will further the development of the platform and make it more competitive.

:iagree:

Of course I had to walk up when you guys were prepping for the shoot with the 2 models (which I will be patiently waiting to see). I at least got to say hi and exchange a handshake.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how things went. The Friday morning practice was the *first* time that car hit the track. The weekend was basically a test session for us and we learned a lot so now we've got our punch-list for changes. Differential cooling is definitely at the top of that list. Handling will get better and we should see some moderate power gains. We had terrible corner-entry and mid-corner push and once the diffs overheated, the corner off was terrible as well.

And yes the girls were amazing. Meet hot waitresses at dinner and make them a deal FTW! Apparently we created quite a stir in the paddock with them - got the stink-eye from all the other flag girls. Huge kudos to Patrick McGinnis (HKYStormFront) who was our photographer for the weekend. Worth every penny.

And if you want more - go to the Winghouse in St. Petersburg where we found them. WOW. Puts the local Hooters down the road to shame.

On to Long Beach!

Mike 03-25-2012 06:35 PM

Great job!

I'm the one Pat called friday morning to ask about the fuel starvation.

Question on the differential. When I transition from 10a to 10b at Road Atlanta, going up the hill, it feels almost like the clutch is slipping and the car bogs a little. Is that the differential not being able to keep up when hot?

Yeah he asked if I knew "Mike the Powdercoater" :)

And yes that's what you're feeling. If it's bad enough, you'll actually see the revs jump and then settle back down once you get the weight re-centered. Very similar feeling to clutch slippage.

sig11 03-25-2012 07:38 PM

Wow! I experienced that a few times last year and couldn't figure out what the heck it was. Nice to know.

Congratulations too! Hope to meet ya at the Detroit GP!

Funny that you ask that. With my LSD on exit from 10b I feel I get a little quick sudden wheel hop from what seems like it's coming from both sides. I just finesse the throttle a litte to let it regain control. Most times it's not all that bad. Might be different from what your experiencing with the VLSD?

smorice 05-17-2012 08:29 PM

Great meeting you at Long Beach... See you in Detroit.

HKYStormFront 06-03-2012 09:29 PM

not the way we wanted to end the race weekend in detroit... one from my cell phone posted on facebook:

http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...09719834_n.jpg

more on this soon...

thezman77 06-06-2012 07:10 PM

wow looks like you scraped the wall... but it doesnt look that bad. how did ti happen?

HKYStormFront 06-06-2012 07:14 PM

brian was letting a GT class driver pass on the inside of a curve, hit "the marbles" and slid into a tire wall. thought it was ok. turned the next left just fine... the following right hander didn't go so well.

Defintly think the Black RPF1 wheels look better than the old Silver Enkei setup.

http://jpmcgphotography.smugmug.com/...IMG2622-XL.jpg

You can see how hard Stout (driving Shaffer's #52 car) was pushing behind Brian. White tire smoke coming into the brake zone. I think they were having an issue with the ABS system early on, but got it sorted out later.

looks better? yes, but it's harder to take pictures of. the wheels just disappear unless you blow out the white paint
