What diff cooler are you recommending/ running? I feel I'm not having issues there but I haven't put a temp gauge on it either. I'm getting ready to change out my fluid and was pondering with adding Nismo diff cooler cover. And if it's worthy on any level?

curious as well, but I don't think our car is tracked hard enough to warrant a diff cooler, just more frequent fluid changes. I picked up a nismo diff cover, for whatever it's worth, just for the little bit of extra cooling it offers (unfortunately, w/o taking before/after temp readings, not sure how much help it will be doing).

I had a C6 widebody, both NA at 400rwhp and supercharged 550rwhp, with r-comps. It might have been faster, but it wasn't as fun or rewarding as the Z on track.

Would this count as a track beast? It was racing at the Continental Tires World Challenge Series race @ Road Atlanta as part of the support series races during the Petit Le Mans weekend. It finished 6th in class, despite not being fully prepped to the limits of the rules. It was prepped for a lower specification in a different series. From what I can remember it had the obvious brakes/oil cooler/ exhaust upgrades. It also had a custom setup for the fuel pump to avoid starvation. I was honestly surprised at how close to stock it was. I would stick to the previous guys posts and upgrade the brakes, add an oil cooler and spend the rest on track time with a good instructor.

I'm pretty much thinking the same, but I am willing to entertain the questions no matter how hard i find it to believe that the OP has both a C6 and a brand new Z (a NISMO that he bought with his money) and has an extra 20k to spend. If I had been given a Corvette when I was 16 I wouldn't have been going out to get another car. If I had 50k I was going to dump on a car and mods, I would have just dumped the money into the birthday present and have a sick C6.

I've heard other people say similar things about the vettes. I guess that after doing track days and watching the vettes smoke me on the Road America straights, I find myself very curious about ownership. I was actually strongly considering swapping the Z for a used 2006 Z06 that a guy in my building owns. I suppose the grass always seems greener, but having a faster car doesn't mean it's more fun to drive. (e.g. a Miata)

I have many racing friends with Corvettes, and several of them are Z06's. They destroy me on the straights so I enjoy the challenge of catching them in the braking zones and the corners (running equal tires). On the more technical tracks it is usually a pretty close race lap time wise, but any track with long straights is a killer. Because of the extra speed they are even harder on brakes than we are.

When we went last year, that was the first time I ever missed my C6 with the supercharger.

Well that makes me want the Z06 less knowing that the enjoyment factor leans to the Z in other circumstances. It's just very enticing when you see them rip past on the straights.

The car is not as precise in handling as the Z thanks to the soft suspension and the massive torque off the corner. It actually feels more like the 350 than the 370 in terms of its rawness. Personally, the amount of power freaked me out because I realize the faster you go, the harder you are going to fly off the track if you ever run into that situation....

This pretty much sums it up. It's probably surprising to hear someone that makes a living selling parts and services for the 370Z, to say this but it's the absolute truth. The speed will come with experience and training and then we'll of course be ready to sell you all kinds of neat parts. :) But initially, all that one really needs is a good set of brake pads, brake lines, fluids, and an oil cooler.

Before investing in more equipment, you need to get to the point that your tires are squealing like angry witches pretty much ALL the time you are cornering. Only when you hear the angry witches will you know it's time for better wheels, tires, suspension, and so on.

Let us know if we can help. We are on track somewhere at least once a month in the South East and Mid Atlantic regions.

I had me some angry witches Z Nationals. I had Never driven a track before. The instructor was fantastic. I learned so much. My only upgrades on my Z was Rotora 6/4 BBK, Swift Springs and Sway bars.
I am planing more trick time this year. I watched Sharif flying around the Track. The Man can drive... I am sure I will see you again this year Sharif.

I love my Z06, but I'm trading it for a 370Z. You have some truth in that paragraph.

Say...what? "soft suspension"? I own a Z06, and have been in/taken the 370Z w/sport on several test drives and have a friend with one. His 5-series BMW w/ Sport (or whatever BMW's suspension is called) corners flatter in his opinion/experience. I think the 370Z rides WAY softer than my Z06.

Definately. Since the weather is usually cold and miserable, I typically use Jan and Feb to recharge my brain, and my bank account..haha. Then back at it in March. See you out there soon.

I had a z51 c6, the suspension is soft on it.....

As everyone has said buy good brake lines, fluid, and pads. As well as a oil cooler. But the best mod for performance you can get besides the driver mod is an LSD and good tires along with plenty of track time.

Weird. None of the Z06's or ZR1's or Grand Sports at spring mountain did that while I was there, even on a hot lap with an instructor (not the demo lap, private lap, only car on the track), but maybe they had all been ground down by previous laps?

Still, I don't think the suspension is anywhere near as soft as the 370Z, just a lot more force on it from the more powerful car/harder braking/etc. and the lower ride height all playing more role than suspension.
