Road Atlanta video.

I think my best lap in this one is 1:42. Sorry its so long, I tried to just upload the 10:30 to 15:00 section where I was chasing a friend in a GTR.

Watch it if you want to!

Cool. Made me feel like I was right there with you. Hanging from the rear view mirror. :icon14:

Looks like your friend in the GTR was losing a lot of speed in the corners.

Mike 11-27-2011 07:48 PM

yes, he was a little less experienced, fairly new to the car and it had just had a Forged Performance handling/engine upgrade package done to it, so he was feeling it out still

Good vid Mike. Nice riding with you also. I had a great time. I'm going to try and have my videos posted this weekend.

Jeffblue 11-28-2011 01:42 PM

Love he vid but I can't skip around lol

Mike 11-28-2011 05:13 PM

Sorry about that, but the contour system is so much easier to use than you tube for me. I just download it and click on upload and they host it.

:tiphat: to you mike, great job with that GTR and the overall run.

Hows it goin Mike, definitely a fun weekend. Was nice to meet you. I'm the guy that had a conversation with you about the hood scoop brake ducting, if you recall. I was in the #18 370z. Still haven't figured out what that grinding feeling/sound my car developed during hard cornering is but I'll be investigating it... (may be related to a previous curb incident). Its now easily reproduced on the street as well. As a result I doubt ill make VIR this upcoming weekend. Looking forward to seeing you guys out there again in the future tho. :tiphat:

Nice video, Mike. Thanks for sharing. Damn that silver vette is fast in a straight line...

ValidusVentus 11-28-2011 09:11 PM

Oh, thats you SPOHN, whats up man. Nice driving! I ended up driving like crap while you were behind me lol, trying too hard to keep that Z of yours in the rearview! ;) Have a good one bud.

Nice meeting you too! Hopefully we'll see each other again at another one. I'm really thinking you are right on it being the stock LSD struggling with the transition from hard left to hard right and the fluid being really hot.

You might just try and change out the fluid, should only take about 20 minutes if you go to the hobby shop, then go to the track as planned.

Thanks Alex. The vette is from local tuner MTI Racing, who just took 3 awards in the Fastest Track Car shootout at VIR. They are super powerful and super fast in the curves too! I think Reese, the owner of MTI runs 1:55s at VIR, which is what the grand am corvettes run.

Well, whats interesting is that I had no issues before (at Summit Point) with the oem fluid and changed it out anyway to Redline 75w90 (no viscosity modifier) prior to this event. Took a corner quickly tonight on the street (not even that fast really) and it triggered the issue, and continued for about a mile down the road in a straight line whenever I got on the gas or over bumps, then only over bumps, then went away again. Almost seems like its a bearing or joint or something... I did smack a curb with the left rear hard enough to have to replace almost all the suspension components on that corner a couple months ago, but that was pre-summit point and no issues there. I think its time to take the numbers, tow hook and NASA sticker off, get it over to the dealership and play dumb.

You could really do something with that brake ducting idea, could be pretty slick. Either one wide and low center scoop placed bottom center on the hood (with seperate draw thoughs at each end) or a scoop at both front corners, seems like a lot of potential here compared to existing ad hoc setups. Though putting holes in your hood may be a bit drastic for the common man heh.
