What about rhe gorpo prevents you from seeing the steering wheel?

You just have to figure out a mounting solution. You can use the rear glass but given how wide angle it is you end up with a lot of car interior in the shot and not much road.

This one has to be one of the best cameras out there, just expensive. Combine with an external mic it is great.

Thanks man. I was very happy with 5th overall behind some serious hardware.

Found the in-car video from the FTD car - the DSG 240RS Maxi. It has run events with Redline TA and GTA as well.

i got this one for my birthday after i lost my other one trying to make a cool video from outside my car. I learned that suction cups dont stick to small curves on a car. :ugh2:

Nice, Chris!

Spohn, the GoPro gives you a lot of bang for your buck. I'd pick one up, I'm sure you'd find yourself using it a lot.

Hey Steve, there was a Boss 302 LG there driven by a friend of mine. Nice car, but he is having an oil consumption problem at 2200 miles (this was his first track event with it). Heard anything on the Mustang forums about oil problems in certain 5.0's?

I actually have heard of some oil consumption issues with some of the Boss models. Depending on how much oil its consuming he should take it in to the dealer to document it. Most of them have been helpful and will replace the engine if that turns out to be the issue.

I'd send him over to The Mustang Source forums. There are a few threads on it and Ford has a dedicated customer service rep that will help him with scheduling an appointment and making sure the dealership takes care of him if necessary.

10 quarts? I think that is too much.

Thanks a lot, I'll let him know.

m4a1mustang 09-16-2011 08:50 AM

10 quarts!

I think your friend is already on that forum, I just read a post from an owner with 2200 miles and 10 quarts of consumption! :icon17:

Something is definitely amiss with his engine -- I'm certain Ford will replace it.

Red__Zed 09-16-2011 09:08 AM

Pretty common to consume oil for the first 3-5k in the stangs.

Red__Zed 09-16-2011 09:09 AM

Not 10 quarts though:eek:

I didn't really consume much at all in my first 3-5k, but I followed break-in to a T. No redline for 100 miles, no track for first 1,000 miles.

10 quarts is way too much, so there is definitely a tolerance issue there.

ChrisSlicks 09-16-2011 10:41 AM

Updated video with telemetry. My mistake on lap 3 is much more obvious in MPH here.

I like the rear quarter window

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...1/DSC_1354.jpg

As well as attaching to the drivers seat. Helmet works well also.

cossie1600 09-16-2011 11:34 AM

helmet cam is dizzying if you have a hansdevice securing your head!

I do the quarter window for auto-x but I'm always afraid the camera will come off at 130 mph on the track. I should just attach it to the passenger seat head rest or something.

Yeah, I just tether it into the car when it's out there.

Good stuff. I love that telemetry overlay, I would love to upgrade to taht one of these days. constant 1.3G in the corner, god I miss having slicks! I can barely pull 1.1G without the car wanting to plow

shadoquad 09-16-2011 12:35 PM

I'd love to let a Z loose on the track like that.

I was using a borrowed logger. I'm looking to get one of my one, and this one looks like it has the best features for the money. A racing friend was using it at WGI and he liked it a lot. The DL version will also allow OBDII logging.

oh no question about that. Without know mods and power and such obviously I can't say a whole lot, but even if the GT-R was completely stock, and with all of the electronic control and such only being 1 second behind would make me really happy too.

wh1te370z 09-16-2011 01:52 PM

my friend w his gtr w downpipes, exhuast and slicks, ran a 2:11 (beginner/novice driver)

Not to be rude... but what is your point?

Mike 09-16-2011 02:01 PM

That data logger looks interesting, a lot cheaper than traqmate too.

My friend in his almost stock gtr ran a 2.11. most likely its was a stock gtr that chris was behind or s similar set up to my buddy.

If your friend had a downpipe and exhaust, that adds A LOT Of power to a turbo car... a TBE on an Evo for instance often results in a 30-40 whp gain... and you are comparing it to a NA 370 that MIGHT be putting 320 whp to the ground.

I would say stock GTR or not the Z did very well.. and there were other cars that he also beat that "should" have beaten him.

Im not saying that stuff doesnt add hp. Plus that track (The Glen) isnt a hp track anyway. All i said it was CLOSE to stock or a SIMILAR set up to my friends bc they ran they ran almost the same time.

obv the car chris ran againt wasnt heavily modded. thats my point. im not trying to make an argument out of this

Yes the GT-R I was running with was bone stock, he only has tires. After each session he would take it for a 10 minute slow drive to cool down the overheated transmission.

I really like those apex speeds Chris is holding. My only WG experience is with every single car in iRacing, so that's definitely impressive to me.

as with any datalogger, the key is the software. the new aim does look promising, cant wait to see it out. i am still stuck with the pbox, its good but not great

for most people, its hard to drive around a 60k car around the track fast....

The software for AIM is very powerful, but with the power comes a extra complication so the learning curve is a little steeper.

Yes, there was a very fast modified GT-R there for Day 1, but he doesn't run time trials, I'm assuming because of the track insurance situation.

cossie1600 09-16-2011 03:04 PM

it seems that way, my pbox used a weak software before they jumped to the new race logic that made it much easier to use. i can now quickly compare llap to lap compare to before.
do you use trackvision or racerender to setup the video?
