2011 370z vs 2001 ws6
370z vs ws6 which one would win in a straight line and a roll? Also can a ws6 corner well?
|
too many varibles...you gets no answer!
|
Let's start with mods. Most Stock Ws6's can do a 13 flat stock.

Straight line would come down to driver, but I think the Z is faster. The Z weighs less and has more HP but alot less TQ. In the turns if both drivers where the same level the Z would leave it in the dust.

As for a roll depends on how fast of a roll. a 10 mph roll id sway still towards the ws6 bc of the amount of tourqe the car has. If you get into mods. Id almost promise u the ws6 would win. If you put 2k into both cars the WS6 would walk a 370 all day every day. those LS1 motors are animals. Around a track the 370 would easily beat the Firebird. |

but which one could withstand a hit from Godzilla on the quarter panels better?

Actually the LS1 was under-rated from the factory. It's assumed the LS1 made about 350 at the crank in the F-body's. Still, it is about 200lbs heavier than the Z. I would say it's a drivers race with the edge going to the Z in a drag race. From a roll I would say it would be pretty even to about 100mph at which point the Z will start walking away slowly. I won't say specfically how I know this. As already mentioned, when you start talking about mods the WS6 will wind hands down. As for how they corner. Everyone gives them a bad rap in this department, and I used to do the same, until I drove one. My girlfriend when we first started dating had both a 2001 TransAm and C6 Vette. I drove the TransAm a lot until we sold it last year. While it doesn't corner like the Z does it's still pretty decent and pretty easy to control. With a few $$ spent in suspension mods it will do very well on a auto-x or road course. There are couple guys in my local SCCA group that do very well with theirs. |
ls1's are underrated. i think a ws6 would take a 370z. i almost got one before i got my z, but needed a car that i could put miles on without worrying

Wow.... will a Geo Metro beat my 370Z?
Seriously dont ask such dumb questions which have no point in which to be answered :) DAN |
Fine, ill weigh in. Closest to a 370 I ran was a 265whp modded 350z.60-115 I put 2 cars on it. I have ran plenty of new camaros and was dead even every time. Those tend to inch on the z based on YouTube. Sorry for the ricer comparisons, that's all I've got from my fbody days.

Prior to my 2009 Z, my previous car was a 1999 WS6 (which I drove for 10 years or so), so I can at least provide you with some subjective reference.
With a perfect driver in both, and the kind of mild bolt-ons, tire/wheel changes, etc you'd expect from someone running at a dragstrip, I'd give the 1/4-mile edge to the WS6. In any case, with any level of driver it's going to be more about car prep and driver skill/luck than the cars, they're close enough. Handling stuff: For a muscle car of its era, the WS6 actually handles really well (especially with a few mild upgrades: swaybars, shocks, etc). But even a stock Z blows it away by miles on all aspects of cornering, especially feedback to the driver. Comparatively speaking, that WS6 feels like a big iron boat. |
