Default GoPro HD Motorsports camera and track days

My wife just gave me a GoPro Motorsports HD camera for our anniversary. It looks like it could be a lot of fun for my next track day. Has anyone used one of these? Where did you mount it? How did you like what you got?

AK's thread is a good one.

I've got one too. You can pretty much mount it anywhere you can think. Watch out if you mount on your the upper portion of your windshield and in case it rains...obviously (after it happened to me) it will interfere with your wipers. For inside shots, I mounted on the rear hatch window. In AK's thread, he has mounted at the bottom of the rear bumper to show the under side of the car, which is cool.

There's a lot of wind noise at speed, but I placed a thin piece of foam between the camera and door of the case, and that reduced it slightly...wind noise is still there though. Here's a sample with the camera attached to the passenger side B pillar:

You see these everywhere in drifting, car racing, sports, etc. Have fun with your GoPro.

Great job on your camera mount btw, the only concern I have is safety. Is it really safe to have a cross metal bar behind your headrest like that, would it stab you in the neck should it snap in a T bone accident?

Also I highly recommend capturing your hands for your track shot, the other shots are virtually useless if you want to improve your driving as it doesnt really tell you much.

I got a GoPro a couple of days ago. Here's my first vid.

I notice this high pitched noise when I play it back...almost " tinny" when it gets loud. For those of you who own one, is this normal? Or is my camera defective?

Are you addressing me? For the video from outside the passenger window the camera was mounted on the OUTSIDE of the car (B pillar) by supplied suction cup...no homemade crossbar used The suction cup makes this thing excellent for motorsports as you can mount it on any smooth surface and it's strong.

My favorit mounting position for learning is to have the camera mounted on the inside of the rear window so that you can see out the windshield, hands, steering wheel and shifter. Plus, no wind noise so you can listen to the beautiful engine and exhaust music!

Normal. It is the automatic gain control trying to prevent distortion my lowering the mic gain. Tends to roll off the low frequencies in the process.

OP, Check this for an interesting camera mount, on the side of the helmet:
