2011 LeMans 24Hr Race begins TOMORROW!! -- Support Nissan

Just wanted to give everyone a reminder about the 24 Hr LeMans Race in LaSarthe, France beginning tomorrow! Forget about any other race you have ever been to and notions that "it is the greatest race in the world". The 24 Hr of LeMans is the premier sports car event in the world.

To learn more about the history of the LeMans race...google it! :tiphat:

My primary reason for posting this up, aside from the awesomness of this race, is the fact that Nissan is making a return to International Sports Car Racing!!!

I know everyone has their favorite teams and/or drivers, but be sure to show some support for the various Nissan entries in LMP2:

#41 Greaves Motorsports LMP2
#26 Signatech Nissan LMP2
#48 Team Oreca Matmut LMP2

Also, for those of you who attended the 2009 Z Nationals Track Event. You may remember a single, rouge BMW M3 running around tearing up the track. That car was piloted by Leh Keen, keep an eye out for him as well driving the #89 Hankook Tire sponsored Team Farnbarcher Ferrari 458 italia (btw...you never know who might show up at a Z Nationals event!)

We welcome anyone and everyone to come out to the shop on Saturday. We will have the big screen locked on the race throughout the day. For those of you who will not have access to a TV, be sure to visit RadioLemans.com to listen LIVE online (a great bunch of broadcasters host the show).

I will actually be stopping in on satuday!

takjak2 06-07-2011 11:59 PM

Z1 is from the future! Where it is always Friday.

If anyone else was confused, the race takes place on Saturday the 11th and will be covered live by speed.

Cheerin' for Nissan.

I'd love to come. I promised my son we'd go watch X-Men though. I need to pick up a power steering cooler. You guys keep them in stock?

dad 06-08-2011 07:59 PM

I watch it every year! But I'll be cheering for Corvette Racing ! Plus this guy, and especially his team car!

What cars are those 3 teams driving? Good luck to all the Nissan teams

Entry list 2011.

Dustin@Z1 06-08-2011 08:33 PM

They are actually powered by Nissan, no official Nissan entries. All of the entrants are LMP2's which us prototype chassis not resembling official road going cars. I thought the Peter Dumbreck was going to have the Sumo Powered GT-R at LeMans, but I did not see it on the entry list.

Check this Nissan car car on display:

It will be on track for a special promo Saturday. Painted white and blue now...but I like the all Carbon Fiber look personally.

I can't wait, I will be trying to beat my last year's record of 12 hours of viewership this year!

This car is what I'm really looking forward to seeing:

I am glad that Audi went back to a closed cockpit design with Peugot. It reminds me of the GT1 series back in the late '90s when it was Porsche, Mercedes, Toyota and BMW running against each other.

So disappointed that I'll be driving to Atlanta for work on Saturday instead of watching the race. :(

Waiz 06-11-2011 10:38 AM

OMG!!!

dad 06-11-2011 11:16 AM

That was a shock.

Waiz 06-11-2011 11:19 AM

I was happy to see Audi leading, then that hapoens :( hopefully McNish has no injuries.

Zaggeron 06-11-2011 02:55 PM

I saw that. That could have been bad if the car had actually gone over the barrier. Luckily no injuries.

b1adesofcha0s 06-11-2011 03:04 PM

:shakes head:

dad 06-11-2011 03:55 PM

2nd Audi crash, doesn't sound good!

Zaggeron 06-11-2011 04:06 PM

It was looking bad, but now they are saying his injuries might not be that serious based on the behavior of the ambulance crew ... all still conjecture by the SPEED commentators at this point

Shamu 06-12-2011 05:03 PM

Nissan powered cars 1 and 2 in LMP2! :happydance: top 10 overall. that's a little race history in the making.

Audi wins overall. Corvettes win their classes.

Zaggeron 06-12-2011 05:22 PM

Yea. Kudos to Nissan for that finish. It was a great race. I'd love to see a Lola chassis be competitive in LMP1, but that's not likely to happen -- privateers can't really compete with the factory teams.

Waiz 06-12-2011 07:31 PM

Congrats Audi, Nissan and Corvette!

I beat my record from last year and watched nearly 15 hours of racing

b1adesofcha0s 06-12-2011 07:35 PM

Congrats to all
