Read this if your planning to go to Island Drags

Went to Island Drags today. Wanted to see if traction has gotten better than almost 2 years when I was there last. Didn't get a chance. They told me that they are enforcing a NHRA rule for everyone, that if you have after market wheels, your studs have to stick out of your wheels up to 1/2 " out. I've raced at Atco, Raceway P. Lebanon, W. Palm without a problem, so I wasn't aware of such a rule. Waisted gas/tolls & a half a day. So if you want to race at Island Drags, & have other wheels beside stock, better get longer studs!

good info!

but this has always been true, with the extended studs. all the other tracks should abide by nhra rules , but they dont. It how ever tech-in feels that day...

Tough luck, Andre.

From what I've noticed, if you've got a mostly stock car (no nitrous, or forced induction), the tech usually doesn't give your car a second look.

At Englishtown, they'll ask if you have any nitrous, turbos or superchargers and they never bothered to look under the hood.

Here at PBIR, I bet I could drive in with a keg in the passenger seat and they won't notice.

I don't think you're not missing much at Island Drags. I've always heard that Atco & Raceway park were the better tracks in NJ. I've even heard rumors that Atco is slightly downhill.... I doubt it though.

My only interest in Island drags is because they are having an Import match on June 12th. Last week I went to Atco for their Import Sunday. Made it to the last 4/5 cars in a large class. Lost to the runner-up, same car was 2nd. at the Raceway Park Import day. A very good racer, driving a M.B. roadster auto, that turns 11.70's every freaken time. Since it's hot weather now, my interest is not for better times, but to have fun "bracket racing". It's much harder to compete using a manual trans, but I'm trying. I use a 12.8 dial in, so I can shift a bit lower, & not have to come out that strong & risk axle damage. One run I came out too strong & had to break at the finish line, so not to break out. Result was a win with a 13.09 at 72mph :) I don't care for Island. Tried it 2 years ago, & could not get traction, O! & that was with a pure stock 04 Z with 255/17 Nittos. I'm going there because when I go to the track(raceway & Atco) there's never any Zs there. I read that there will be a few at Island on that day. I plan to kick some ***!!!! WINNING!!! sorry, felt like Charlie for a second......sorry for the long story.....
