STILLEN GT-R at Spectre 341 Challenge Hillclimb

Right now STILLEN president and founder Steve Millen is out with the STILLEN GT-R in Virginia City, Nevada running the Spectre 341 Challenge, which is a hillclimb set on a very curvy section of two lane road in the deserts of Nevada on Highway 341. The road is 5.2 miles long with 22 turns, and a 1,200ft rise in elevation, steep drop offs and no guardrails!

The goal to be in the "341 Club" is to break the 3 minute 41 second mark in completing the course. The current course record is 3 minutes 10 seconds done in 2002 by a modified Ferrari F40. Steve and the team left with the goal of beating the top time, so we'll see how they do. More info:

I'm beginning to get updates and pictures from Kyle Millen, and we're posting them on the blog if you'd like to follow along!

Steve Millen has wrapped up the day.. got some good runs in, but didn't push it too hard since the car is being loaded in a couple days to head to New Zealand for their huge auto show and later the Targa Rally in a couple months.

We'll have some video hopefully when the guys return!

Here's the day's blow by blow with some pictures and video: STILLEN GT-R at Spectre 341 Challenge – Ongoing Updates : STILLEN

Wow, nice vids and such a cool event

So what was the Millen's best time?

Who won (type of car/time)?

Here's the recap and photos from the event: Spectre 341 Challenge – Final Recap : STILLEN

Tires kept Steve from getting enough grip to take first in the event, finished second behind a modified Corvette by 1 second.

Had the Dunlops been available anywhere in the country would have probably shaved 5-6 seconds from the final time.

We'll be back next year!

Sorry for not posting this sooner, we actually finished the wrap-up right after coming home but out of respect to VRAlexander's family who did not know of Alex's untimely death until yesterday we did not want to post our final recap.

Steve really pushed the car and the tires show it! There were a lot of long right hand turns and the inside of the right side fronts are worn hard! It's kind of funny actually, it's like the tread just drops 1/4" all of a sudden where that part of the tire was dragging across the road scrubbing. I've never seen anything like it! LOL.

We can't wait to go back next year and we're hoping to build a 370Z that I will be driving in next year's event!

Wait a sec... the same VRAlexander that drives that badazz Carrera GT died? During this event?

Josh@STILLEN 06-30-2010 02:54 PM

Yes..

Red370 06-30-2010 03:40 PM

any details on what happened to the guy? just drove off the road or what?

Josh@STILLEN 06-30-2010 04:04 PM

He went off the road just after the fastest straight section of the course. Not a whole lot of details, but there aren't guard rails throughout this stretch of road.

Red370 06-30-2010 04:17 PM

Wow, sad to hear that.

Great showing from the GT-R, hopefully with some new rubber you guys will take it next year.

That's crazy. I've seen his youtube vids. Was he driving the GT or something else?

I love hearing that thing snorting along with each shift, that BOV makes a ruckus.
