Life begins at 250.

The 250mph standing mile is no minor feat. When Underground Racing's Lamborghini Gallardo posted a 250.1 mph run at The Texas Mile recently, it got us thinking. Could a Top Secret tuned GT-R lay down a bigger number? Could Mothra (with some F.I. love, of course)?

250 mph at The Texas Mile

That would be cool! GT-R will need more than a tune........

Do it and let us know....lol

Right, we're talking about a full work-over, ground-up on a GT-R. At any rate, it would be a great excuse to start from scratch on a new GT-R. We do love the feeling of all four wheels hooking up on hot Texas asphalt.

There may be no way for Mothra to even approach these lofty heights, but it's not really the destination, is it? It's the journey. If we set Mothra down this path alongside the GT-R, who knows where we'll end up?

Sounds like fun. I voted for the dark horse here -- Smoky driving Mothra. I bet with some kind of crazy TT and Smoky's expertise, Mothra could get somewhere in the 220 range. Maybe higher. It would be fun to watch.

Too bad we can't vote for two -- I'd also vote for Smoky in the GT-R to get it done on the Texas Mile.

Do this!

Would need some really good aero on the GT-R or Z, on top of fully built/tuned/Turbo'd engine. I think that could help out quite a bit too on top of quadrupling the horsepower. Easily take 200+ in a mile but 250 is pretty damn fast in a mile and would take quite a bit, but hell, I would love to see a build up of one for that intended purpose.

So, do you think we should try it? Let's hear your ideas!

Quad Turbo Top Secert Tuned GTR

LateralG'z 04-24-2010 05:11 PM

haha, 250 standing mile, mmmmm yeah right

1slow370 04-25-2010 04:21 AM

rolls royce gnome turboshaft through 2 speed tall azz gearing no F'n way will top secret get near close to 250 in a standing mile takes well over 1000hp with amazing aero. it takes a veyron can only hit 246ish and that takes more than a mile...

Edit: start at 200 if you hit that it'll already be F'n crazy.

has top secret ever had a car join the 200 club? yeah there's an official club because 200 is that hard

Though the Bakers would never condone street racing in this country, their friend Smoky's done 200+ a few times on the street -- Japan in his excellent Supra and the Autobahn in a Top Secret Skyline, among others:
Smoky Nagata's V35GT-R Skyline driving 211 mph on the Autobahn

I think maybe you don't quite understand how we do things in Texas. In Texas, incredible, seemingly impossible feats like a standing 250 mph mile or landing on the moon in less than a decade in the 60s are not things we whine about. They're things we do.

A modified Lamborghini has posted a 250 mph run at The Texas Mile. Goliad is famous for the flag that said "Come and take it" about a cannon during the Texas Revolution. The guys at Underground Racing have posted a milestone at Goliad and said "Come and take it". I think The Bakers are just responding like Texans.

don't hand me your texas bullshizzle "he's gone 200 blah blah blah" 200 on the highway already traveling 60 is NOT impressive you could get a z to go 200 with 500hp. To get a z to accelerate to 200 mph from 0 in under a mile requires outragous power. last year i think there were three bikes in the 1250cc+ turbo class that broke 250. those bikes are NUTS they weigh like 500 lbs and have over 300hp. figure that out for the z it's nuts. there was an 870whp GTr built by boost logic and it went 203mph at the texas mile. thats the record for a gtr and considering that horsepower demands to go faster at those speeds increase exponentially due to drag and rolling resistance you would need double that to break 250. when you make a near 2000hp gtr you can come back and talk about your 250mph. so unless you guys have like 300k in your back pocket to blow on a texas mile car don't spout off this crap and make us all look like ricers that run on dreams. This whole thread is just a top secret plug anyways.

Noted. Thanks for your input. Kermit has stated what he thinks will get it done. Anybody else have ideas?

As for dreams, the way records are set is by having a dream and pursuing it. Last we checked, pasta-boys, not ricers hit the 250 mark. They didn't hit it by accident. They dreamed it could be done and worked hard on a car to get there. Could we do better? Maybe. Could Smoky's Supra? Perhaps.

Would it be fun to watch for everyone except Kermie? Probably.

By the way, this thread is not a plug for Top Secret. 250.2 mph at the Texas Mile would be, however. Don't you think?
