2:26 on Infineon? What configuration where they running? Thats way slow even in the wet on streets if its standard course. I have turned 2:08 in a stock 350Z touring roadster ( my wifes car) out there on streets first time ever in the car. My Little 200 hp 914-6 was doing 1:52's

From looking at the pictures of the event the rain was torrential, parts of the track were rivers. Considering Mike was on worn out stock tires on a bone stock car and comfortably won his class against well setup cars I think he did pretty darn well!

Perhaps no one had ever run that course before? Again that's very slow. My first time ever on that track i was being instructed in the rain on worn streets and my car did 2:16. That's still 10 seconds faster from someone with no track experience on silly old Yokohama 100s. Guess I have fastest time with a stock touring 350z? Come on someone must have posted a faster time in a 370z? The car in stock condition should be capable of a sub 2:00 with a good driver.

There are many different levels of wet, only one level of dry. Only one car at the entire event broke the 2:00 barrier in the conditions we ran in (conditions most organizations would close the track with). To give you an idea, Brandon Davis, a professional driver, in the ACS SPEED World Challenge Mustang on racing wets ran a best of 2:16.555. Paul Dentice in the modified AE Performance 370Z has been setting track records all year long in that car so you know the car/driver combo is very capable, he ran a 2:21.904 in those conditions. This should give you a little better idea of just how wet we're talking...

Edit: Found practice times from earlier in the day when it was still wet, but much less wet. Looks like I did a 2:01.642.

Nice time Pat! What do you have for mods?

When I ran the time posted I had TEIN Monoflex coilovers, a FI cat back exhaust and 19" Volk RE30's with the Yokohama AD08 tires. It was pretty unbalanced at the time but I've done some additional work now and should be settled a lot more. I'm hoping to crack 2:20 this year.

I've only been there once so it was mostly a learning experience. The next time back I'm targeting 2:24's. Getting under 2:20 would be a brilliant time for this track. Good luck!

Well, I have some added power, better brakes, harnesses and the car has been corner balanced. I'm also running 18's and NT-01's

I'm just trying to keep pace with one of the owner's of the track who has a 2011 Mustang GT who was running 2:21's with just NT-01's. He'll be faster this year for sure.

must - not - lose - to - mustangs !!!!

lol

CrownR426 01-26-2011 01:29 AM

So the new stangs are great on the tracks too huh...
Always thought they were only for drag racing.
Very impressive time and damn the stang sure is a great price for anyone in the market.

HP is HP, it's tough to make up for an extra 70HP if there are any straights

Calabogie is actually a very technical track with 23 turns, blind corners and elevation changes. Horsepower is definitely a factor here but not as much as other tracks like Mosport or Tremblant. Unfortunately I don't think I will be faster than him since he probably has at least twice as many laps than anyone else.
Have a look at this video that a local tv station featured on the track. We build and service all of those Mustangs that you see.
