OBD reader for track addict

I'v been trying (and failing) to figure out why my phone, Samsung S9, won't connect to my OBDlink LX reader. I'm trying to get throttle and brake info on my recordings but the dang thing won't keep a connection to my phone...

Has anyone experianced the same issue? or have a better way to get the date to track addicts?

I have the Samsung S9+ phone. I use the OBDLink MX, an older version of it anyway.
It seems to work ok with TrackAddict. In TrackAddict videos, I get Throttle pos., RPM, Gear selection, Map recording, time since recording started. I also use it with Harry's Laptimer as well and don't have any trouble with the ODBlink MX, lots of OBD2 data there.

Some times I find I need to check and see that the ODBlink is actually connected to the phones bluetooth interface before launching the app.

Have you checked for a firmware update?
OBDLink is VERY good at addressing issues.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but, do you also get the above data in Harry's?
All I've been able to figure out is timer, map and speed, which is via GPS and is awful since I don't have an external unit that does more than 1Hz. I thought it would pick up a wheel speed sensor. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Also, do you have gear selection display in the instrument cluster? I wonder if it still works if your car doesn't have the option.

Check out the Laptimer video I took on YouTube:

I used the Samsung GS9+ and the OBDLink MX with Harry's laptimer. I get RPM, Speed, Map, Gears with Tach behind, Pedals (Both) Fuel left, Coolant temp.

The "Gear" is calculated from engine RPM and vehicle speed, so it should work on all vehicles. (Engine RPM and vehicle speeds are EPA/CARB mandatory PIDs)

Harry's documentation refers to "wheel speed" but uses the OBD PID ($0D) for vehicle speed. Overall it is the same thing, unless you want to log left/right wheel speed to calculate slip.

Looks like I've got some digging to do. Thank you both! :tiphat:

forgot to check on this after i posted lol. Ended up buying a much cheaper one that works completely fine. Think i just got a bad OBD reader so amazon returns FTW here!

But i can't figure out how to get the brake to overlay? I looked at the channels that were available in track addict and it wasn't giving anything for the brake. Any thoughts? or does the 370 just not output that.

Track Addict supports OBD Mode $01 PIDs. There is no PID for "brake on/off"

Here is a list of the more interesting items that are available:
• SAE 0x0B Intake manifold absolute pressure
• SAE 0x0C Engine RPM
• SAE 0x0D Vehicle speed
• SAE 0x11 Absolute throttle position
• SAE 0x24 O2 sensor lambda Bank 1 + 2 (aka air/fuel ratio)
• SAE 0x43 Absolute load value (load % based on air flow)
• SAE 0x66 Mass air flow sensor A/B (bank 1 / bank 2)

To see the full list you can use OBD Fusion's Diagnostic report and look at mode $01 - Powertrain Data or in Torque Pro under Adapter Status.

My Torque Pro works great with my OBD. My only issue is getting a live reading while recording thru TrackAddict (Connected to OBD and GoPro). When I was recording using my GoPro and TA, it limited my info to only GPS speed only.
