Prediction on when we will get track time - COVID

Thought we could get a pool going as to when we will see our first HPDE / Track Event following COVID....and where.

Thoughts as to what state will be the first to give us our life back on the track...and when?

Florida and George are currently stupid enough to open ****, so they're your leading candidates

I wouldn't go anywhere near them tho

I would rather work on the car or go do some sim racing for now. You can still get Corona during drivers meeting...

If I had to choose whether I get corona from the grocery store or a drivers meeting, I pick the drivers meeting :icon17:

In TX : Eagles Canyon is planning on open track days next month and looks like they held a very small group one last week. This track has memberships and i think they are still doing membership days but with more surgical masks than last year.

The Drivers Edge is still planning on a 5/2-3 event at MSR Cresson, i'll be there after getting it pushed back 3 times...

So far the plan is masks for everyone during drivers meetings and suggested at all times. In car instruction will be via bluetooth cellphones ear buds, bring your own vs share.

I'm with Jar... I think i'm just as likely to get sick at walmart as i am at a drivers meeting... probably less at the meeting since i'm guessing most of us are working from home now and have very little social contact.

Speed District in California is still running Willow Springs and Buttonwillow. They claim they've taken precautions - but we'll see if it's worth it.

Just checked AMP has a SCCA track night for 5/13 (not yet cancelled), might to that, might wait. Have to be really smart about this stuff, considering my GF health. Times are a changing.

Private tracks have never stopped running. Some tracks can be rented and have a limited number of people. I know there is going to be a track event at Buttonwillow the middle of next month as well. I think events held by NASA and SCCA will probably be the last to go live because the National implication and run by private owners that mostly just break even. They are also low expense relatively speaking and with so many people out of work they want hold any events until June. I was invited to a private track day the end March but didn't go because race car in the shop. I have been invited to another private track day event for Memorial Day weekend.

So far I'm hoping Speed Ventures have a go on May 9th 10th here in Socal. Itching for my first track day with the Z.

I think newsome pretty much said no, maybe you will get lucky since they are not in la county

TBH no one really knows when the larger organizations will open up. NASA Northeast canceled everything till June but I think that won't happen either. I don't see events in the northeast happening till the fall. All the major tracks fall near populated regions so I don't see any major events till fall anywhere. As far as private events for smaller groups I think you might be able to get a great rate this year.

Agreed! I think national leadership will not give the go ahead on an individual region's call. I think it will be June or July. I am curious what they will do for Nationals as many may not have enough runs in. I am looking forward to going to Utah Motorsports Park just to run the track!

As far as the AZ Region we only have two events, one in june and the other in August. Both are half day events due to high temps and the August event is a night event. For me I am probably done after Memorial weekend until the Nationals or something else in September or October.
