I have played iRacing a lot lately in a private garage, we have two rigs based on fanatec CSL and iRacing, I think it helped me improve as a driver (especially braking and exiting turns).

btw, I have been addicted to Laguna Seca there

Sometimes I think you share the same mind as me; definitely similar tastes I would say! :bowrofl:

I just started putting my rig together last night, I just need to get my Fanatec DD1 wheel base that I have on preorder now.

Seems like I'm always waiting on parts for something..

Is the rig from 4play? I'm trying to decide between them and the simlab GT1 Evo right now and having a super tough time.

Yeah it's 4Play's new "Racing Competition Platform", so far it seems very solid and stable. This design is so new that the instructions aren't even finalized yet, but I managed to piece the puzzle together based on some sample pictures.

I think this design is supposed to have better support for direct drive wheels, which the DD1 I am waiting for is.

This my brother's setup. He has an RSeat rig and accessories. His pedals are 2k alone as they are totally hydraulic and feel like a regular car. Besides the three screens he has VR by way of Oculus. I am driving and preparing to run at Buttonwillow in this picture. I can tell you it is a huge benefit in learning the track. I new every corner and hill. It scary accurate. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...985bf7f3f2.jpg

Bobby, you need a 6 point harness to make it feel real. :rofl2:

Haha you get what pay for. Made of tubular aluminum. The rig is rock solid and the company stands behind its product. When my brother received his the base had a dent in it. It was totally cosmetic. He sent them a picture and they said no problem and sent a new one and told him he could keep the dented one. I have it now I just have bought all the the other parts.

I can see no more than $4K. Not $36,000. How much engineering went into that compared to a car? Not much. For that much. I can buy a old Formula Ford without a drivetrain and get 3 flat screens and a computer and other stuff and still have money left over. :shakes head:

LOL, for k you can a hell of nice set up. For about 2k you can the rig chair and trays. The rest can go to the computer screens, wheel and pedals. You don't have go stupid crazy. You don't even need the three screens. Just get 65 inch TV and call it a day. If you like get VR and is as realistic as it gets. There is a reason most race team are holding some kind sim racing series to get drivers. It expand there search pool and thos kids are fast right out the box. Like I said my brother had never don a track day and by the end of his second day he was two seconds off my best time on 2.6 mile track. He had not even driven a manual other than in my car few times in twenty years. I think it well worth the money if you hone and develop your skills. It will make you faster even if you already are.

This is what you get for $36,000.

This is your motor and a sequential tranny.

If you go full sim then yep. Yup can do pretty good with actuators and all the motion stuff for about 12 to 15k.

It's cheaper than a real race car. If you wreck, who cares. Start over.

I can't play video games for crap. I suck at them. I need something
that will give me feedback. Steering wheel at least. I can get a plan jane seat. From what I saw you can go basic and add on as you go.

The force feedback and resistance in the wheels and pedals can be excellent.

I ended up picking up a Logitech G29 to play with until the DD1 gets shipped.

My car still isn't done, but I've been playing the sim as much as my wife lets me. :icon17:

Found an Oculus Rift lying around my office so I gave it a try. It took about 2 weeks before I could get used to driving in VR without getting dizzy. But I can say it has helped me adapt to the game much better!

I have a Fanatec setup with a playseat and play PCars2 on the XB1.

Anyone else on PCars2/XB1?

Also some Dirt, but not online.
