Rear brakes dust shield

Hey guys,

I am gonna replace my rear calipers and rotor soon, should I remove the rear brake dust shield while i am at it or does that actually do something?

Thanks

It keeps heat away from the axle and various rotating parts during track duty.

Pretty much decorative :tiphat:

Not sure how much you've read up on it, but it seems most people just bend up the lip so that the rotor clears. I've heard it can be a bitch to remove them (not sure how true that is). When I get around to a swap I'm going to bend the lips back.

I was gonna cut it

You have to remove the bearing to remove the shield.

I'm getting ready to do a brake upgrade and I was wondering about this myself. My intention was to replace mine with the correct ones for the sport brakes, but after hearing this, I'm just gonna cut them. Not worth the time, money and energy.

This should do the trick.
