Vbox Mtorsport logger

Any one know anything on the Vbox logger?

I have a Vbox Sport. It is good and accurate device, you can use it with their software (unfortunately, only for iOS) or use it with any track app like Harry's Laptimer. You can review the data and check your best laps as well as try to analyze your performance through the app.

But if you are looking at a complete solution with video recording, I used AIM solo DL + smartycam, which was a great solution, but I think the one vbox offering may be better, as they record at a higher resolution.

I have racecapture as well, but didn't use it.

I looked into it a little when I was choosing a Data Logger and Video system.

Comparing a starting kit of: Lap timer display, ODB logging, and video overlay from "AIM SmartyCam and SoloDL (1700)" or "VBOX Lite+Laptimer ($1840)".

I don't see the VBOX being competitive at the same price point anymore unless remote mounting is important.

VBOX gives you a camera you can mount anywhere with a remote for starting and stopping, where AIM only has one and you'd probably want to have it mounted near the driver to start and stop.
VBOX gives you a remote mic input where as AIM is fixed with the camera.
VBOX needs an extra Display Unit for Lap times (included in price)
VBOX needs another device to view the video, AIM has a tiny display.
VBOX upgrades and accessories are limited when compared to AIM.
Aim has some other features, like Wifi configuration and data logging download for a pc or iphone. Bright RPM/Shift indicators. Battery powered if needed.

I have the sport, which will require additional equipment such as camera and phone to merge them together. The higher price ones just merge them together, the software is very good. I used to use it a lot when I was tracking

Two things to add, AIM have a model with bullet camera, so you can put the main unit somewhere convenient but it support one camera only, second, it have two options for FOV (wide angle or zoom)

It depends on what you need from it, you want those fancy videos with graphics overly or only data analysis

You can use Harry's and get most of it. The sport can do 20hz per sec anyway. The fancier system is just easier to setup, you plug it in and go

Yep, you can do everything the other systems can do for around a fraction of the cost.
Phone App ~10
ODBII BT~50
High Speed BT GPS ~130
Wifi Cam ~200 for remote mounting or just the phone

That's what I did for 2 years till I got tired of forgetting to turn on/off/start/stop/connect/charge all the devices. Now I just press 2 buttons and everything is running and their auto start/stop and charge when ever the car is running so it's no big deal if I forget to turn something off.

Anyone have a cheaper alternative? Vbox is so expensive (especially for a rookie like myself).

I was told to give Harry's LapTimer a try (in terms of mobile "apps"). I'd like to integrate my gopro somehow with these apps if possible.

Yup, you can use Harry, but I would recommend external gps with it to get accurate position data.
