Undoubtedly the z platform will be the new main drift platform as the 240sx becomes too old and expensive for how poor shape most of them are in.
There is a lot of info as far as 350z’s go but let’s get to sharing info on the 370z’s

Post your set up with as much info as possible. Such as:

1. Angle mods
2. Alignment specs
3. Hydro set ups
4. Seat and steering wheel specs
5. Motor mods
6. Wheels and tires
7. Local drift spots
Etc.

I will go first as I haven’t seen any current info on this forum as far as what they make now.
2016 370z I got at salvage auction for 7k
Wisefab front angle kit with Ackerman kit
Waiting for BC to get back to me on a set up true coilovers.
I have a spare nameless performance hydro from my s14 but if anyone has used one they are really annoying without gloves, they have hard edges and grooves for you fingers as if you have time to grab the exact spot while needing to scrub speed. So I will most likely just get a different one I can put a bike grip on.
Need input on rear suspension arms, I run 0 camber in rear on my s chassis but not sure what you z guys think is best since it is a much heavier car.

You are going to need a clutch type diff upgrade with a diff cooler. OS Giken, Cusco, ATS, etc.

:iagree:

Set up as a 2 way, with 100% lock. Or use a spool, or a Lincoln Locker.

Yep just weld that bitch until it goes boom!

Also, contact MA Motorsports as they worked and wrenched on Chris Forsberg's car before he went west. The do a lot of drift cars. I know Chris is sponsored by Voodoo and they seem to be the go to for drift suspension parts.

My 2016 370 sale fell through and got impatient and picked up a 2010 nismo, I was just planning on picking up a open diff in the pumpkin and welding it, but I’m reading that I will have to get new input shafts? Anyone confirm this? I would weld the stock lsd but I hear they are a pain to weld and don’t hold as well.

Rusty 07-04-2018 09:53 PM

If you have the stock VLSD. You can't weld it. The VLSD is a seal unit in the carrier. This is what's in the Nismo. If you have a base or touring. They have the open diff.

Spooler 07-04-2018 10:01 PM

Yes, the axle shafts are different. You would also most likely need to change the gears on the base or touring model. Check out Z1's site. They will tell you what gear ratio came in what. You will want to stick with 3.69 or go with 4.08's.

austinroberts 07-05-2018 01:42 AM

@Rusty
Are you sure you can’t weld it? I welded my 240 vlsd and it was a b word but the 240s vlsd has like 4 windows on it that you can weld the spider gears together. I’ll try to do some research and see if I can see what they look like. Might be just as cost effective to go to a 2 way. Welded is just so awesome though.

There is no windows on it. And there is no spider gears. I have one sitting in my garage. I replaced my stock VLSD with a OS Giken 1.5, set at 70% lock.

Thank you for your information it is very helpful. Trying to figure out my best and somewhat cost effective option for full lock or close to it.

Pulled my diff to send to Z1 for the Tomei 2 way since doing a welded was almost as much money so i figured why not, even though welded would be just as good for my application. I pulled the cover off and what do you know.. this vlsd is just the same as all the others out there on r32,r33, s14s etc, it has 4 windows you can weld through to connect the gears to the housing thus making it a suitable welded diff. Even found someone who posted a photo of theirs welded and claims he is on his second season on it with no problems. I have had 2 welded vlsds on my 240s and one that had much more power than my 370 and never had an issue. saved me 2k today. Hope this helps the next person

I have the WiseFab angle kit on bump stop 3 with positive ackramin. Bump stop one is literally 90 degrees of angle on lead wheel. My gr coilovers are maxed out high because no one makes over fenders for this car yet, unless you know of some please let me know.

What's the spec's on your front rims?

A wide body kit is in your future.

austinroberts 01-20-2019 10:06 PM

19x9.5+22 it’s less than 5mm away from the knuckle or whatever you want to call the big thing that holds the hub. Wisefab widens our track width by 3 inches or so. I have almost no 19’’ wheel option to go in more. I really dislike widebody kits and would really like someone to make over fenders like the 350s. Can’t run camber because Wisefab fixes camber gain.

Glad this thread is here and hope it gets filled. I’ll be making some kind of journal as I do a little bit more work.

Recently “totaled” my 09 nismo. It had very minimal damage but i bought it back and fixed the important stuff so far and I’m looking to source out different parts.

Junk yards around me (pa, ny, ma) typically sell a diff for 50-100 dollars but obviously finding a 370 in a junk yard is near impossible. There’s a handful of 350z’s and I’m gonna try to mount one and see if there much of a difference. I could be wrong but they look damn near identical. Finding a 370z base or touring diff on facebook marketplace is just as hard and obviously shipping is not really possible.

I’m not ready for big boy wisefab yet, maybe next season but so far I have the simple stuff, mishimoto oil cooler, which, I’ll probably have to upgrade in the future due to our zs running hot as balls, bc coilovers, rack spacers, ground down bump stops, currently fabricating my own solid diff bushings, and of course put my nardi in to get rid of that airbag that went off in my face lol. Deleting this yaw sensors and abs fuses today or tomorrow and debating if I want to move the battery to the trunk to open up some space to relocate the power steering reservoir. But for now this is her. Still trying to source a drivers fender and hood if anyone knows someone.

Also feel free to contact this guy. Super nice dude. The only thing he has on his nismo (daily that he drifts. He also competes with a 350) is a tune, welded diff, hydro, springs, exhaust, and diff bushings.

Anyone active on here still drift? Getting ready to start building my Z into a drift car. Got some parts coming in hopefully soon and I'll start a build thread to document and help others that decide to go down the same expensive path.
