2013 Nissan 370Z vs. 2012 Ford Mustang GT

An acquaintance at one of the tracks I attend has 2013 Nissan 370Z automatic A7 with test pipes, catback exhaust,K&N air filters wants to race someone at the track this person has a 2012 Ford Mustang GT automatic with a cold air intake other than that it is in stock trim. This person does not know much about the 2011-2018 coyote Ford Mustang GT’s and would like to know if there is a chance of winning a race at the track in the 1000 foot or 1/4 mile? Are the 2011-2018 coyote Ford Mustang GT’s really that quick? What do they normally run??

Driver skill being equal I would bet on the mustang, more torque (Torque: 390 lb-ft) and the rear suspension is for drag racing as i believe '12 has a "live rear axle" setup. But I really don't know much about 1/4 racing.

Is it a track pack gt?
Track package Mustang gt stock is mid to high 12s. Auto 370z are highs 12s to low 13s.

No it is not the track pack version of the Ford Mustang GT. It is a 2012 Ford Mustang GT coupe with a automatic transmission and only has a K&N cold air intake kit so almost bone stock.

if it doesn't have 3.73 it might be close. but if its a track pack (factory quarter mile setup) forget about it, those are quick!

Again this persons vehicle is not a track pack version it is a 2012 Ford Mustang GT with a automatic transmission and for the record it has 3.55 gears.
How do you think will win this race?

Itll probably come down to driver.

Whichever spins the most will possibly lose. Mustangs are fairly quick and it should be a close race. Both put down similar 1/4 mile times. Reaction time, condition of the vehicle and driver will determine who wins that battle.
