Heck, I'd come up anyway, if anything to hang out and see what it's about and meet some good guys. You can get some rides and tips. There will be instructors there at no charge.

If you're not to hard on the car you should be fine. I would think especially if it's cool. Maybe others can chime in....

:tiphat:

JakeZ34 12-06-2009 10:50 PM

yeah and I'll be in Novice category :/ only my 2nd track day so I don't think I'll be pushing hard like you pros :D

I'll think about it. when is the deadline? I'll have to check my schedule too first since it's on a Friday

Stan, how do you like the Z compared to the Z06 on track?

I quit tracking my widebody C6 altogether, as I feel the 370 is much more challenging and therefore fun on the track than the Vette.

;-) - Thanks! It actually may be more of a wet dream than you think. I wouldn't be surprised if we're running in the rain...

...not that I'll complain :icon17:

See you there Stan! Will be there in my 370Z testing Version 2 of Kognition's wing, plus I might also be doing some off-season testing for the Berk Technology BMW 135i time attack car. I am more than willing to give rides in the 370Z to whoever wants one!

I agree. I love my Z06 and tracking it has been fun. Gotta love the power. I've got 78K on it so it's not a garage queen.

That being said.......I frick'n miss driving the 370! It's a blast to drive!! My buddies on the corvette forum would have a field day with what I just said but I'm like you, the 370 is fun to drive and should make me a better driver because the 370 at this point is a "momentum" car, kinda like a spec miata. I'm looking at a pic of it as I type and can't wait to get out at Willow the 18th :happydance: < that tell ya anything :icon17:

Leh Keen made a comment to me after he drove it at Button Willow, " this car will be a blast to drive when you get it sorted" ....he drives for a Rolex Porsche team lehkeen.com

You too Mike!

Robi said the OS Geiken LSD with oil cooler will be in along with KW adjustments. I like driving a different car each time I go out to the track.

Thanks Robi.....you da man:tiphat:

The LSD will help tremendously at Streets of Willow. Your car should be fast there for sure.

Mike, did you customize your LSD clutch plate packing at all or did you leave it stock, i.e. maximum lock up?

Sore subject: it actually looks like I'm going to have to bail on it due to work

It's paid for and everything, so if someone is up here in NorCal and wants to go, I might be able to swap over my registration. I registered for the Novice class because I haven't driven Laguna before, so you'd have to be happy in that group. I think the rest are full. It's a Trackmaster's event, so it should be pretty well run...

Bummer. If I lived up that way I'd hop on it in a minute. I've never been to Laguna either.

boosted180 12-10-2009 02:40 PM

on the redline website, there is a listed of "registered racers". is this just a list of those who are competing or does "racers" mean ALL drivers? i want to find out how full it's going to be. 100 max is too much in my opinion.

Thats ALL drivers. No competition at this event. Just a track day for fun to wrap up the season :). The finals were back in November.

Bluemeanie 12-10-2009 08:36 PM

I doubt 100 cars will be showing up. Be lucky if 30 showed up. Slow sign-ups for sure and close to Christmas.......mas track time for us :tup:

which car did you drive? i only saw one other z out there and it was mike's.

overall very fun event. does anyone know if redline will post the results? my best time of the day was 1:31.00 (sooo close to 1:30) on my ultra lap timer. temp was 82 degrees. eibach springs, hotchkis sways, spc front arms, and stock everything else.

there's still probably about 1-2 seconds to be had, i think, but i havnt quite figured out the best way through the chicane yet. turn 1 is also a bit unsettling if you dont tap the brakes before entering. on my miata, i used to go full through turn 1 and hard on the brakes before entering 2. but on this car, it's too fast if i stay on the gas and the rear gets all light and uneasy.

The car never made it there. When Robi put the OSD Giken in they didn't tell us the axle shafts were different. Robi lucked out and got some shafts from Fontana Nissan's rig there Friday and installed them today. We'll be out at Big Willow tomorrow for Industry Day and maybe Button Willow on Monday. I'm in Lancaster now.

Great times by the way! Sorry we couldn't hook up...

You're car was the base model so that's why the shafts were wrong, they definitely should have asked you that when ordering. Oh well.

Robispec 12-21-2009 10:31 PM

even with the track pack lsd you need a second "short shaft" the only one which is a direct replacement is a nismo plate style locker...so be warned...!

People have installed the Carbonetic carbon LSD as a direct replacement to the Sport model viscous LSD without having to add any parts that I'm aware of. I was told only the non-LSD diff required the 2 side shafts replaced.

Robispec 12-23-2009 02:33 PM

that may be so for the carbonetic but the osg requires two short shafts and the viscus has a short and a long shaft so you would need a second short shaft.
