As a DE instructor for many years, I agree completely to new students bringing out their stock car with stock tires and learn the basics of car control and high speed driving. Learning the basics, learning the track, turn in, apexes, smoothness on the controls and correct application of controls is key. Do those things and speed will come as a result, and speed with control. Then, you can start the modifications to enhance the cars capabilities and raise your own capabilities in concert.

I track the Z occasionally just for fun, it's still a street car but my main track car when we (instructors) get to play is my turbo Miata.

Hoping to make it out there next year for an event. Too far to make many, but I think it would be worth the trip to attend at least one.

Just moved back to SoCal. Joined the mailing list! Hopefully, the rest of my stuff arrives before the next event - I don't even have my helmet with me!
