Also, a lot of the "experience" has to do with the people you're hanging out with and how much of the evening activities you participate in. Last year when I was there for the first time I thought the experience was just mediocre. This year I hung around on site more, met more of the other competitors, and went to dinner with friends more often. Night and day difference in the experience.
