Autoclub Speedway Times

Hey guys,

I want to set a realistic time goal at Autoclub Speedway. What are the fastest times a 370Z has gone around autoclub?

Preferably stock or lightly modded such as mine (CAI, CBE and tune with street tires)

I posted 2:08. I've seen videos of 2:03 however i don't know the mods and tires.

Of course there are heavily modded 370Z's that break 2min but i want to know whats fast with my mods or similar

Thanks,

From what I hear, see and read...2 minutes and under is the mark to beat. What do you consider heavily modified?

These guys are posting times I have seen for GTR's and they are not boosted!

Thanks,

All 3 of us in those vids are not heavily modded. I'm personally only running Berk HFC's and Stillen G3 CAI's, with no tune. Stock suspension, hotchkis front sway bar, nismo bodykit, endless mx72 brake pads and bridgestone re71r tires.

My fastest lap of the day was 1:58.517 and there was plenty of room for further improvement. My hot lap video is the 1st one listed on that link.

Heavily modded to me would be some TT's or supercharged with upgraded suspension race tires etc

When i go i see a good amount of people under 2 min but i didnt know how easy that was for a stock/lightly modded 370Z

Easy...isn't the word i'd use. To be fair this is my 2nd time running the roval and I've run the infield 3 times before so i know the track much better now.

My 1st time running ACS i did a 2:00.9...but it took me some time to get there. The walls are intimidating and make you lift, also your line coming into the bank will make a HUGE difference.

Wow! Nice times bro. So i guess sub 2 min it totally achievable. Is endlessmx72 pads street/race suited? do you have stock sport rotors? Your tires are a bit grippier than mine but according to reviews they are close enough it seems.

I feel like i can be heavier on the braking which would probably gain a second or two right there. It alos looks like you get on the gas a bit faster than me out of the turns. Do you have tracking control on or off?

Thanks! Sub 2 is definitely possible, my goal on this 2nd outing was to hit 1:59 and i just kept getting faster through out the day.

Endless pads are a street/track pad...the best benefit of these is that they will last you several track days with daily driving in between, they take hard braking like a champ and worked really well with my OEM sport rotors. Don't expect a huge difference in stopping power, but have confidence knowing that these will not melt on you and that you can drive home from the track and to work the next day safely :)

I recently switched to centric rotors because my oems were done and so far they're doing well.

I've been running with VDC off at all my track events, it just cuts throttle way too harshly and prevents you from getting on the gas earlier on corner exit.

The re71r is an amazing tire and will drop your lap times, so i highly recommend it. I was previously running the re11's which are also a great tire but a bit slower than the 71.

You're definitely right about braking, once you figure out how late you can brake into turn 3, turn 5 and turn 10 you should see your times drop even more

I have watched a bunch of videos and you guys rock. You don't lift much on turn 1 as others do. :p

Also, are you running on 18 or 19 inch wheels?

Thank you sir! As a group we are really improving and pushing each other to get to the next level, great bunch of drivers and people overall. I think our secret is that we are pretty open about sharing our knowledge with one another.

I am currently running 18's, just switched over from my 19" nismos to VMR 810's and i absolutley love them

That is awesome, I hoping I come play with you all at the track sometime this year but it will probably be after ZDayZ. I need new tires and contemplating the 71R's but may stick with RE -11's because the 71R's don't come in 305's. What are your thoughts...

Awesome! The more the merrier :) i don't run anything as wide as a 305, the widest I've gone is 285 on my nismo wheels with re11's.

I've been driving on the RE11's for a few years now, did all my track days last year except for one and i was very competitive in my class and pretty happy with them until i tried the 71's.

So because of the size limitation for the re71r, i had to go with 275's but the grippiness of the compound seems to have more than made up for the reduction in the contact patch. Hope that helps

^^^ what Malko said. Yeah 2 mins is the benchmark for any car at ACS. Once you can do that you sort of "get it" so to say. Malko(eagle) and I have always been fairly close at all tracks, often times within a second of each other so it's been fun to progress with him. The only Z's currently running faster than either of us are actually 350's with aero(which makes a huge difference in which line you can carry through Turn 1 and 2). They are coming in at 1.52-1.54. The fastest time ever in by a 370 was paul dentice 1.53x from AE performance(paul walkers old company) Car was very light, well tuned, JRZ suspension and Paul D is a hell of a driver (and a really nice guy!)

I would expect a Z decently driven to do a sub 2:10 their first day at ACS(depending on experience etc) I think ACS was the third track day I ever did and can remember 2:10-2:12 oem everything and scared sh1tless. Our guys that have been running for like 1.5 years are starting to tap 2:05's. The 2 minute mark is a tough goal to hit. Once you are through it you are like, oh that's how you do it. I can easily see a 1.55 in my future-I'm sure Malko will be right next to me lol.

NA you don't need 305's they will slow you down. Like Malko I switched to the RC-1 and it is 275. The Re-71 or RC-1 are both large upgrades to a RE-11 or RS-3. The 275 size is a non issue in terms of overall stickiness and lap times.

Yes, easy is probably the wrong word to use lol. this is my 3rd or 4th visit to ACS and my best so far was 2:08. I think the 2 main areas of improvement i have are breaking later, and getting on the gas faster out of the turns. I keep VCS on though because one time i didn't and i hit that gas too early and spun. kind of nervous now to take it off.

I take the bank at about 110mph, what do you usually take that at?
