Thx for the opinion..i had a 05 350z and had drag radials and its DAY AND NIGHT difference launching street and drags i need more thoughts off more of you guys plzz throw me your thoughts what you think about option 1 and 2 and etc
|
I would at the most look at the nt05r or 555r, were not making power for a drag radial, I'd get some bushings replaced to fix wheel hop and just run a sticky street tire personally
|
If you want a good tire and set up you need a smaller wheel, 18" with a 255 tire and that'll help a lot.. My srt-6 made more power and torque then my Z and I ran a 255/15 Mickey Thompson and cut 1.8 60' all day
|
Im curious what drag radials are you using on stock rims 19s im curious if i will be at a disadvantage with 305 in rear
|
I'm not using radials, I have been to the track with a 285 hankook and not spun and run a 2.0 something 60', I just think as a stock car you will be slowing yourself down with that much tire. A 305 isn't necessarily a good thing if you don't have the power to move it, most people don't realize but too much tire will slow you down
Will this be a track only tire or something you drive on daily? |
305 35 18 MT drag radial on volk t 37's 18 x 10.5
1.80 60 fts no problems at all |
I agree that I think DR's are overkill for your power levels especially a 305 tire. :twocents:

I will be ordering nto5r 305/35/19 for my spare HRRIMS. They will be stritckly used to the drag strip, at the drag strip and then back. My stock Rays will be dd. I think if your not boosted, the 555 is stock size will till run nice. Maybe 35 instead of 30 for more side wall.

Instead of drag radials how would these tires be?? I want perfect traction and going for fastest NA 370z here in AZ 1300 elevation track....i wish it was 0 elevation and collddd weather... trying to get on that top 5 list haha |
305 tire is way too much for stock power levels.

I guess what I'm saying is tires are like shoes, you won't buy a dress show to go running in, so you can't buy a street tire and expect to drag race |
FYI Maxxis has a new tire in a peculiar size: 295/40 18. They claim it is optimized for the weekend drag racer etc. VR-1 | Maxxis Tires USA
Not sure that it is even available yet they unveiled it at Sema last fall. |
Toyo r888 will be my choice but only after I'm pushing the power that requires such rubber. Currently on nitto nt05 street tire and they hold up fine.

Small little bump to give my impression of drag racing the Z with Nitto NT05r.
First off, I was getting major wheel hop with poly rear diff mounts and street tires (S04). I don't get wheel hop with the drat radials at all. This is a big plus! They drive on regular everyday road great. I don't drive then on wet/rainy day so I can't comment on that. I would think it would fish tail a lot! These tires are defiantly sticker than regular street summer tires. They get decently sticky after you warm them up but I think there are better tires out there. For $500 a pair of 305/35 (or 30)/ 18'' its a steal of a deal tire and performance wise. After I wear these tires out, I think I will get a set of MT Streets. I think they might be stickier and give better 60'. Horrid track prep at the 1/8 last night. I could not muster anything better than a 2.19 60' with most of them 2.4x. I was trapping 90/91mph in the 1/8 so at least I was picking up some speed at the back end. YzGyz |
