phunk, excellent idea. Would the baffle clear the hole though? If this is the case, I might have to buy your pump again

It will fit after you bend and crush it down! They are rather flimsy.

My recommendations would be: Do not open the tank until the low level light is on, so there is barely any fuel in there. Then, be prepared to use tin-snip or other cutters if it happens to have a spot-weld or two left holding it at one of its other mounting ears. You wouldnt want to bend it back and forth to break it out.. use a tool so you can control how any remaining attachment point releases it. (to fatigue with bending back and forth may risk the spot weld failing on the tank side, causing a leak).

I had one of those plates fail in my car (CB Street setup). I never heard a noise, but it manifested because it knocked into the fuel level sensor causing it to fail (which manifested by the fuel guage reading progressively lower until it read empty). At first the dealership replaced the sensor, which fixed it for a couple months, but when it happened the second time they investigated further and found the baffle to be loose and floating around in there, so they replaced the whole fuel tank. All work was done under warranty by the dealership.

Can you believe this, I broke the baffle in the replacement too!
