TT and race car coolant ?
 

Looking though the NASA CCR on coolant in order to get the annual tech you have to run non glycol coolant. I assume everyone is running distilled water and Mocool or water wetter. Just wanted to ask if 100% water causes any issue for seals or anythinng else in a stock 370 cooling system?

The additives prevent rust and such, so you'll be ok.

Just use DI fluid and make sure your radiator cap holds good pressure

Mine has been on Water Wetter for over a year with no problems.

I have heard people complain that mocool/water wetter has caused internal corrosion on seals etc. I really don't think the issue is those products-in fact I know it isn't. My guess is that they used tap water right out of the hose. Don't do that. The salts, chlorides, and metals that are in your tap water will definitely do some damage to your radiator,seals, hoses etc.

Make sure it is RO/DI water(which they don't sell too often at the supermarket anymore)/ Don't use "RO water", "purified water", "distilled" water or bottled drinking water. It has to be RO/DI water-there's a difference.

Go to a saltwater fish store with a 5 gallon bucket, they make and sell RO/DI water. It costs <$2.00 to fill a 5 gallon container.

And if you trust their RO system you're crazy brother. We make RO water at work and it takes like 10 gallons of purging to get the quality we want, and we get 1:9 ratio of clean water to waste thereafter. (We get 1 liter of clean water and 9 goes down the drain.)

I have my own RO/DI system because I have 125 gallon saltwater tank. And my waste ratio is about1:6. You can set it higher but with the filters being fresh, 1:6 is like 99.95% pure or something.

And yes at the fish store I absolutely trust the quality. Any guy running a fish store with 10's of thousands of dollars in live swimming merchandise is not going to compromise on the quality of the water he is creating because he uses it too. That being said, don't go to petco or petsmart, those places are POS. Go to a real saltwater fish store.

RO efficiency is dependent on pressure, 1:1.3 is typical for commercial/industrial systems.

The newer home units(that run on garden hoses) are starting to be able to do 1:2-1:3. But they are still in the $500.00 price range. Mine is more like $150.00 unit and does about 50 gallons per day, which is more than enough for me-I only need 10-15 gallons per week.

Interesting. At work, we make deminerized water. We keep the pH at 7, conductivity less then .005, and silica less the .005. All the other crap, we keep it less then .001. Got 250,000 gals tank full of it.

For waterwetter. I know people running distilled/deionized water. Use to be able to get it from wallymart. Also check out EngineIce. ;)
