How to efficiently "search" within forums??

I am relatively new to this site but how in the heck do you search for certain key words within threads? For example if I wanted to search for all threads that contain the word "berks" is there some specific way to do this? Every time I use the search function it never pulls anything up. Even if I use an advanced search. I just get this message saying "nothing found". Even though I know there are probably a hundred threads out there that contain info on berks products. It's driving me crazy. And I couldn't find and threads or forums on "how to use the search function". Help!!!

"berks" pulls up 20 pages of results for me...

Also, try Google. This forum should be at the top of the list for anything 370z related. I usually just go to Google if I quickly need to find a thread.

Google, type in:
site:the370z.com xxx

Where the "xxx" is what you want to search for

I normally use the advance google search and have found it very useful in searching for things by either title or a specific part.

I've in the past made tags like if you're needing help on a How to (reset window) for example to find some diy's

But, I agree it may not be perfect.

This is how I usually search for things on here.

Thank you for the assistance. Using the Google search option was very useful.. Kind of frustrating that the normal search function does't work very well.

Hi,
Normal search function works well if you're a bit advanced user and play around with the drop down menu and ctrl button.

a. you MUST make sure to use dropdown menu and change to (thread) title only. if you keep default, nothing will generate.

b. To minimize unwanted results, first ask yourself "what are you looking for?" are you looking to buy berks exhaust or looking for berks review. Use ctrl button on keyword and highlight specific forums. The forum search function can be just as effective, if not more effective if you know the tricks (search is in time sensitive order). Try it. Have fun. thanks

I'm not familiar with vBulletin but you should be able to change the default. If not through a config setting, then by modding the PHP code (should be a very simple edit).
