Something like this:
Captcha On Login - vBulletin.org Forum

IP banning isn't entirely reliable. There needs to be a way to knock everyone offline and log in again with the captcha. Set a limit on number of attempts.

BTW, some other sites that use vbulletin are still vulnerable to the Google hijack.

Almost the entire New Posts page is spam. This is overwhelming. Fellow veterans of the Spam Wars, I think we're losing ground despite all of our efforts.

My only regret is that I have but one Life to give for my forum. heehee

I certainly don't know what the answer is but somebody has to. If necessary, I'd be willing to chip in a few bucks to hire a security expert. Staff is doing a great job reacting but maybe it's time to be proactive. Just a thought.

Many (all?) of the SPAM accounts are "zombies" that were created earlier. Eg, amstrongzol's acct was created on 06-21-2013. Ofc, if the system has been hacked, that date may not be correct.

I think it's time to shutdown the site for awhile, pull up all the recent posts, disable registration, etc. Time to take a break... :(

Poor Zbrah can't have time to be reading any important posts; he's been reporting like a mad man. Kudos to Zbrah.

On my morning break so it's all I can do! :icon17:

I am just wondering what if we require each member to answer a security question every time you log on, like when you sign onto your online bank account, do you guys think this would help to prevent the spam bots from automatically accessing the site?

If you guys are curious or get e-mail coming from a certain domain or want to scan links:
urlquery.net - Free URL scanner

Found it by accident when dealing with lots of spam at work.

Since you're here, how about a verdict- when reporting a post, should we post in that thread that the spam has been reported?
