dealing with spam
I suggest that some number of members who lurk here during the day be deputized to delete spam posts, or that the site be set to automatically delete the post of and ban a member if enough paying members report a post as spam and the spam poster has less than so many lifetime posts. There could even be some sort of human or bot challenge to make sure the spam accusation isn't unwarranted.
Thoughts? |
It's a good idea!:iagree:

I agree, I think there are plenty capable and and willing members here who could help out with doing something like that.

Make everyone become a premium member.
|
Most spam "users" are most likely automated and banning them doesn't really do much. Their systems will just generate new users.

When I moderated some forums, there was a feature in vBulletin that would make you enter a Capcha or a random question in order to register. That might prevent the issue from occuring in the first place. Norcal forum is still swamped with porn/NWS images BTW |

I think it is time for AK to turn on email verification for new accounts. Picture verification would be a good option too. The spam that is hitting is all automated, you just need a process that will defeat the bots.

dude this is getting rediculous. time to integrate those capatcha verifications that even my human eyes have a hard time guessing.
i cannot surf this forum at work anymore. the northern california forum is being POUNDED (no pun intended bahaha) with porn |
