UpRev in DFW?

UpRev website shows 4 "Pro Tuners" in DFW:

Alamo Autosports in Arlington
Baily's Hyperperformance Factory in Fort Worth
AWD Tuning in Flower Mound
PRT Performance in Lewisville

Alamo Autosports is closest to me, but I've read some not great things about them on the interwebs. AWD Tuning appears to be, based on what I can see online, probably the best of the group.

Does anyone have experience with any of these shops? I'm going to visit AWD Tuning this weekend and see what impression I get.

My goal is to get my car dyno'd, then have the shop install a Stillen Gen3 CAI, F.I. HFC and CBE, do an UpRev tune, then get final dynos done - to get a good before/after picture.

I'm definitely open to suggestions for shops not on the above list. I suppose it doesn't have to be one of UpRev's "Pro Tuners" to do the tune if the shop is knowledgeable enough.

Kris,

Let me know what you find out. I live in Arlington and am looking at getting an UpRev tune as well. Also, shoot me a message, we should cruise sometime - 817.475.7691. I have met up with a few other 370z owners in the area, we should all try and get together.

Got an appointment with AWD tuning scheduled for next week. Will update with a review once everything is done.

sounds badass cant wait to see what kind of power you make!

UpRev themselves in Austin is always an option, not too terribly far of a drive.

That was actually my original plan. Reached out to them twice using their contact form on their website and was ignored both times :shakes head:, so I went with plan B.

KrisL keep us posted bro, i saw you and your car at cars and coffee the first time you went. The nismo looks sick!

Will do!

I'll be all modded up by the next Cars and Coffee. Come say hey :hello: and check out the work.

jiu_jitz 01-12-2015 11:58 AM

Whats the update? I'm anxious to see the gainZ!

KrisL 01-12-2015 03:57 PM

Got the parts installed, but not the tune. Turns out my car is too new and there's no UpRev map for it yet. They're working on it, but it's going to be a few weeks most likely.

Playing it safe with my driving until I get the tune done, because I'm going to be running a little lean until then.

At least the car sounds nice.

jiu_jitz 01-12-2015 04:14 PM

Hows the butt dyno feel?

Also did you at least get the baseline dyno done?

KrisL 01-12-2015 04:17 PM

Butt dyno feels good so far. I'm sure I'd notice it even more if I wasn't so nervous about pushing it without a tune. Everyone tells me it's fine as long as I don't try to race a Lambo or something where I'm pushing it for an extended period, but I'm still nervous.

Got the base readings done, but haven't bothered to look at them. They run a Mustang dyno, so their numbers always come out low. That does me no good until I can get the 'after' dyno to go with my 'before' one.

Keeping my fingers crossed that UpRev is speedy and I can get this done soon. :ugh2:

jiu_jitz 01-12-2015 04:46 PM

Id love to see the baseline if you could post that!
Don't worry too much about pushing it man. I had a 350zhr untuned for over 3 years lol.

You'll be fine man. Post up that dyno sheet!

KrisL 01-20-2015 02:37 PM

Sorry for the delay. Haven't gotten the dyno sheets yet.

Good news though. UpRev finished the mapping for my car, and I'll be getting my tune done Thursday! :happydance:

Will post the before and after dyno results Thursday evening.

I'm interested in how it goes, I'd also like to see how much power I make right now then see if a tune could help me out. I'll be at the next Cars and Coffee as well.

Which place did you use, AWD? Curious how the 2015 map feels.

jiu_jitz 02-03-2015 11:23 PM

KrisL any updates?

KrisL 02-06-2015 09:14 PM

Sorry for the lack of updates. Been super busy lately!

All went well with the tune. Keith at AWD tuning is a good dude and took good care of me (and more importantly, my car!). Before and after shows a gain of a little over 30HP and 30 pounds of torque. They run an older mustang dyno, which I'm told ready pretty low, but the gains is what I was looking for really.

I'll be out at Cars and Coffee tomorrow. Stop by and say hi if you're out there!

I remember it being cold when the 'before' readings were done and rainy when the 'after' ones were done.

Great HP gains man!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am planning on getting a tune real soon and I was wondering which tune shop I should go with?

My first choice was AWD tuning but Keith is going out of town and wont be back for another month so I will have my car running a bit lean for about a month or so.. not sure if that'll be an issue?

Also do you guys recommend PRT performace? They are charging the same price and are available next week.

Any help would be awesome!

-Thanks
