Texas
So, I just moved from New York to Texas in beautiful Hill Country (New Braunfels area), and would like to get some advise on good dealers/service centers out here. I looked up several dealers in San Antonio and Austin, but would be great to get someone with experience on whom to avoid or embrace.
Thanks guys/girls :driving: PS: You guys have some serious cops out here, first day and a ticket for 76 in a 70 zone, really? Must have been my NY plate I assume :hello: |
I purchased my car from Sewell motors in Dallas. They have 16 locations. Had them ship it to WV so can't comment on service dept. Good luck.

Welcome to Texas alvitdk,
Let me tell you about them cops here. They don't play around very rarely will you get a freebie here. If you have very dark tint get used to the tickets. No front plate there is a nice 80 dollar fine waiting for you. LOL I live in El Paso, TX. I have been to New Braunfels plenty of times when I visited peeps in San Antonio and Austin. I am sure someone here will be able to recommend someone in your area. |

I'm from Brooklyn... where you're from? Yeah it's the NY plates that earned you that ticket. They usually don't ticket out here till you're about 10 over on the highway and about 7 over on the street. |

I could advise you on how to get advice.

I am seeing a ton of NY plates roaming Houston lately, welcome to Texas. I hope we dont become the next Florida.

Welcome to Texas brah!

And to think I thought I was the only one with a 370Z in El Paso bummer.

So, I'm now officially a Texan (If thats what you call it :-) ), have TX plates and a temp drivers license. Now regarding tinted windows, somehow screwed me over. I know we have 77% factory tint, and I had installed in NY a tint of 35%, which should technically result in about 27% all together. I did that purposly as Texas allows 25% on the side windows. Now, before getting Texas plates I had to get my car inspected and his meter measured 15%, so I had to remove the tint in order to pass the inspection. First of all, how does anyone has darker tint, if you get it measured at inspection every year, no such thing in NY, but OK that's how it is. But how did I end up at 15% with a 35% installed tint, just weird.
Any idea, and a good recommendation for New Braunfels tinting shop? |
I had 35% on another car and the inspection guy said it was reading illegal. I took it to another shop with my windows down the whole time and they didn't check for tint. Every year after that I just rolled down the windows before getting inspected and not once did they say roll up the windows to check.

Service shop
I'd be more interested in answers to his question about service. Anyone have anything to suggest? Espec. in SA. Non dealer preferred.

I bought my z from world car.... They wouldn't even come down a dollar. Stay away. They kept pushing "life time warranty" I was like I don't want the shitty drive train warranty I want a better deal.
|
My 2 cents: Cobb Austin can be a good one. I use Cobb Plano for parts installation and the basic maintenance. At least I don't have to worry about he dealerships' "mechanics" change oil then forget to put oil in, or to screw the cap back on, or "test drive" the piss out if my car
|
And looks like the sticky section has a San Antonio club thread that may be handy
|
Interesting.. I bought my Nismo from World Car.. went below invoice when Houston dealers wouldnt budge off the sticker. Very good experience & was in/out of there fast with no problems. Cant comment on their service.
