Is that 2/25/13? An alternative to the auto show?

guru 01-24-2013 03:33 PM

escm is separate from the weekly meet, this week the guys are hitting up the houston auto show then cruising over to washington for some grub!

lol random. Last weekend but it only take 1-2 days max before it looks nasty again. Its these stock sport brake pads, they make my rear bumper look like Ive been mudding :shakes head:

Now that I no longer have my 20" Advans, Im thinking of starting again with the unlimited car washes on Washington. Think it was like $20/mo

wstar 01-30-2013 05:40 PM

This is why I get wheels in Matte Black, so I never have to wash off brake dust. Should just paint the whole car Matte Black and be done with it :)

It the booty that gets the brake dust on my car. Then again I took of the carbon wrapped mud flaps, maybe I should put those back on. But about the matte wheels, there still is a night and day difference between clean matte and dirty matte. I love the way matte shines! :happydance:

Anybody know where I can sell an old beat up car. Still runs but the speedometer doesn't work anymore. 1993 corolla with 220,000+ miles.

Not looking for a high amount but any $$$ amount will do. Just want to get it out of the house.

guru 02-03-2013 01:48 AM

craigslist

wstar 02-03-2013 06:19 AM

Yeah CL isn't bad. I just picked up a used F-150 from a craigslist ad the other day. It's to be my future Z tow vehicle, but even for now it's nice to have something you can haul big parts and wheels/tires around town in.

You could donate it to a worthy charity and get a tax break.

tonythetiger 02-05-2013 07:43 PM

any track events going on in the next couple of weeks??

wstar 02-05-2013 10:39 PM

Grandsport Speedway (way down south of Houston) has an HPDE coming up on Feb 10th: Grandsport Speedway, which is this coming Sunday . Keep an eye on this page for TDE events (which are awesome, btw), but they sell out really fast once registration opens for each one: https://www.thedriversedge.net/02_tracks.htm (they open 2 months before the date).

Anybody going to the Rodeo?

rockyraccoon 02-07-2013 02:37 PM

Hey guys, just wanted some input from fellow houstonians.
I have a 2010 wrx and have been wanting to trade it in or a 370z since about midway last year. I've test driven it twice already, and so far I have tossed a few other cars in my mind that I want, but I keep coming back to the Z.

I commute about 2-3 times a week from Katy to UH main campus, I work only 2 miles from my house in Cinco Ranch 5 days a week. This makes commuting not really an issue, but how practical and how much of a hassle is it to really own a Z in houston? Any current Z owners recommend a different car, or a variant of the Z? (base, sport, touring, nismo, etc...)

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

theDreamer 02-07-2013 02:43 PM

The options come down to what luxury you want.
Base v Touring is all luxury, leather seats, better stereo, bluetooth, heated seats, touring gives you the option to buy nav
Sport can be added to either base or touring and is bigger wheels (19"), bigger brakes, LSD, and syncro rev match (great feature)
Nismo is basically a base+Sport but with better suspension, aero, nismo braces and badges

I DD about 20 miles to work everyday and twice a week from Tomball to UH main campus and enjoy it everyday. I can go shopping for most of my needs with the Z. Other options are the G37 (Z with a back seat), Mustang 5.0, Camaro SS.

rockyraccoon 02-07-2013 03:01 PM

From what I have read on the forums, it seems like the Bose system that comes with the touring is considered not the best of systems. So far what I have planned is to buy a base + sport pckg towards the end of the summer. With my WRX my first mods were all performance based, with the Z I would probably go a different route. Spacers, springs, and then focus on audio. Probably a pioneer avic double din HU and some upgraded speakers and two 10 inch subs behind the seats.

I get VPP pricing from my job, so if I buy brand new I'll do the above route. But I have found a few 2012 touring Z with 6 spd for about $32k, which is about the same as a sport packaged base with VPP. I really would like the leather seats.

Ahhhh I just want to buy one already lol. I hope to soon be meeting you guys at some meets and local shows!:happydance:

theDreamer 02-07-2013 03:05 PM

The bose is 'lacking' for being an upgraded system but that is how all bose systems are.
Base+sport is very popular, you can still mod the bose system if you want but takes a bit more (I don't have it but there are a few threads).
If you want to meet some, we host a weekly Friday meet some where different each week. Can see different Z, sit, get more info, maybe get a ride (might cost a beer).
