[DFW] Fast Five Movie Meet

Soooo a few of us in the DFW area are willing to stay up on Thursday to watch the midnight showing of Fast Five.

NEW INFO: Gold Class Cinema (the single nicest movie theatre and probably the safest one in the metroplex) has agreed to open a special midnight showing as an event BUT we must buy out a theatre that sits 68 people (20 upper level and 40 lower level seats). If I was to get all 68 seats filled, the price per person would only be $15. Sounds pricey but consider all the amenities and safety factors that comes along with it.

Questions is: WHO'S IN?! I got 68 seats to fill, people, so bring some company!!! :D

tsolin01 04-24-2011 09:15 PM

There is apparently a movie meet in Colleyville Cinema Grille for this too:

Midnight Manji - Midnight showing of Fast Five - Dallasimports

If that's too big of a thing, I suggest we just look for a decent theater that has the midnight showing. Assuming we're going to Omi Korean Grill & Bar in Carrollton, then some choices of theaters relatively near by are:

5 miles away
Cinemark Vista Ridge 15
2401 S. Stemmons Freeway, Lewisville, TX 75067

8 miles away
Cinemark West Plano and XD
3800 Dallas Parkway, Plano, TX 75093

9 miles away
Hollywood Theaters - MacArthur Marketplace 16
8505 Walton Blvd, Irving, TX 75063

I think there's a mini CCM Fast Five meet somewhere but I agree, I'm not sure I wanna join a huge meet... Out of the 3 you listed, the nicest/safest one is the one in West Plano

sexZness 04-25-2011 03:26 PM

bump for headcount! If we need the whole theatre, we gotta act fast! :)

tsolin01 04-25-2011 04:07 PM

Honestly, that place is a bit too far for me, gonna have to pass.

sexZness 04-25-2011 04:28 PM

r u serious? it's not that much farther than east Plano :p

wait... you could spend the night in east Plano ;)

tsolin01 04-25-2011 05:03 PM

Well it's at least a half hour longer for me to get home... and no I'm not spending the night in plano lol I have to wake up for work at 7 on Friday so I'm pushing it as is...

sexZness 04-25-2011 05:06 PM

LOL it was just an idea... but if this doesn't work, we could hit up another theater closer to Carrollton cuz I don't think we can get 68 ppl to agree to go to Gold Class for the midnight show anyway

I read this and thought "christ how far is it" so i looked it up 128 mile round trip is just a bit too far for me too. I'm usually half asleep by the time I get home normally from our meets. I'd probably be in a ditch from this one

sexZness 04-25-2011 05:23 PM

:roflpuke2: Should I pack some redbull for u guys? :D or better yet, some Spike :stirthepot:

Mr. Q 04-25-2011 05:33 PM

Funny thing about redbull and me, it actually makes me sleepy. In fact all energy drinks do. Thats how stubborn and lazy I am. I REFUSE TO BE MOTIVATED!

sexZness 04-25-2011 05:46 PM

aaaahhh... Spike, it is :stirthepot: and I hope you don't have a heart condition... cuz it may actually kill ya :icon14:

jikhead 04-25-2011 05:57 PM

I have a Rave theater right near me and probably will just go see in Friday afternoon and pay matinee price.

Party pooper :p are you going to the meet, tho?

zentropy 04-25-2011 07:53 PM

Jason, that theater was my suggestion. As long as it's not to terribly far in cool with whatever. Like Thomas I have to be up early as always.

jikhead 04-26-2011 01:09 AM

Yeah, I don't really need to be up that late. My trip back home has got me back on a somewhat more non-vampire hours schedule...although here it is after 1am before I hit the sack. Remember that I'm still jobless and on my old man/poor man budget.

I will be out Thursday. Will they have TV's where we're going? I'd like to be able to watch the NFL draft.

sexZness 04-26-2011 09:06 AM

I'm no longer shooting for gold class since most G35s have pulled out of the deal. I was looking into that theatre as a second choice. What do you guys think. If it works, let me know and I will do a mass-text reminder to go get the tickets early (like today lol)

They might have TVs there but honestly I didn't notice when I was there last time. Just a warning then about the korean place, it's $18.99 for all you can eat korean bbq. Hopefully you can still make it  can always spot you if you're running low on funds.

As for the Fast Five meet, how about a head count of who's definitely going? then we can decide a theater. Cinemark West Plano is good but I want to be fair to the guys from further west so if there's a good theater closer to them, I wouldn't mind going there either.

The rest of the gang need to get on the forums so we can discuss the theater situation :p

Jason, hope you can come hang with us Thursday, especially after the new ticket. I can spot you for the movie since I have 2 Fandango tickets that need to be used by June  so this would be a great opportunity to share the wealth (as long as it's a Cinemark, we're good :ugh2:)

Mr. Q 04-26-2011 06:27 PM

Well don't hinge what cinema you guys go to on me, I might not be well enough to go. I have been hacking up a lung for the past couple of days now.

sexZness 04-26-2011 06:31 PM

Awww what's wrong? :(

Mr. Q 04-26-2011 11:08 PM

With those fires burning all last week the air really was messing with my asthma and I guess it finally culminated into some sort of sinus infection. Long story short I could barely breath the last couple of days and I'm hacking up a lot of plhegm.

tsolin01 04-26-2011 11:51 PM

Ouch that sucks. I guess we'll see what happens with the midnight movie because some friends are planning to watch it Sunday night and I don't really want to pay to see it twice...

zentropy 04-28-2011 12:22 AM

Did we ever decide on a good theater that works for everyone?

sktvietdragon 04-28-2011 02:36 AM

Facebook Event

TXSpeedDemon 04-28-2011 08:53 AM

Man, both those meets are really far. My girl wanted to go out tonight and see what this whole car thing was about, and I was wanting to meet some of you guys but I'm not sure she'll be down for getting home at 3am and having to be at work at 6 and on-air at 7am.

The Arlington Parks Mall one starts early - 9:30 showtime - maybe that's the best options for everyone? At least then everyone can be home by 12:30ish no matter where you're coming from.

TXSpeedDemon 04-28-2011 08:57 AM

There is also the Ricekiller meet in Mesquite. Again, a midnight show.

TXSpeedDemon 04-28-2011 09:22 AM

Right now I'm leaning toward going to the Ricekiller meet, but leaving at 11ish and cruising toward home to watch the movie at the new Cinemark in Frisco Square. New XD screen and super nice plush leather reclining seats. Theater's only been open about 2 months and it won't have a huge crowd.

If everyone decides to go the the theater in Plano I could do that one instead.

tsolin01 04-28-2011 09:37 AM

Well I think we're still meeting up for food before the movie but not sure of who's going to the actual movie at this point. I'm leaning towards no but peer pressure's a mofo lol

Current contender for the movie tonight is Cinemark West Plano. That facebook event looks like it's for Friday at 9:30 or midnight. Probably won't make it out for those.

TXSpeedDemon 04-28-2011 09:41 AM

Where do you guys meet for food, and when? Girl doesn't get out of class till 7pm so soonest I can be anywhere is 8:30-9ish.

tsolin01 04-28-2011 10:20 AM

It's been changing every week and typically in Irving area but this week we're trying korean BBQ at this place:

Omi Korean Grill & Bar
2625 Old Denton Rd
Carrollton, TX 75011

Not sure if that's too far for you but we're meeting there around 8pm anyway and typically people get there by 8:30-9.

g35man04 04-28-2011 10:55 AM

the Colleyville meet tonight for FAST FIVE has Police officers and security watching the lot while the premier is on. I will be out there...didnt get tickets to the show but ohhwell. Will just pick another date.

sexZness 04-28-2011 12:10 PM

Or we could pick a theater near las colinas or closer to fort worth. I dont mind driving if it makes it easier on everyone else

zentropy 04-28-2011 04:28 PM

Looks like Cinemark West Plano is the theater. The 12:02 Digital Cinema showing is $9.50 with a $1.00 online service charge. Here is the link:

TXSpeedDemon 04-29-2011 10:44 AM

Couldn't make dinner last night. Girl showed up late and wasn't ready to leave till about 9:30. Ended up hitting the ricekiller meet (which was full of a lot of really broken down cars) then cruising to Bedford to the dfwmazdas meet to hang with some old friends. maybe next week.

We kinda suspected the RKC meet would be full of junkers, plus it was in Mesquite, which was way to far for the westside boys  Hope you can meet us next week. We'll most likely stay in Las Colinas for that one
